The nine-year New Japan Pro Wrestling career of six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and two-time Best Of The Super Juniors winner KUSHIDA has come to an end.
KUSHIDA wrestled his final match for the promotion against Hiroshi Tanahashi at Road To The New Beginning, which was a bout he had personally requested. Prior to the match, fans held up thank you signs and chanted for the departing star.
IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tanahashi won the match, as expected, following an excellent 23:35 contest, winning with tap out with the cloverleaf.

Tana and KUSHIDA embraced after the match, then Jay White hit the ring and attacked Tana and posed with his title. Following that, KUSHIDA cut a promo thanking Tanahashi for showing him what wrestling was and thanked the fans for his time in the promotion. He then bowed to the crowd and left.
KUSHIDA is expected to be introduced as one of February’s influx of talent at the WWE Performance Center and is set to start with NXT shortly, where he is likely to be billed as a featured attraction.
