WWE United States Champion LA Knight has revealed why he sometimes gets in trouble in the company.
Perhaps the biggest contributing factor of LA Knight’s rise up the WWE ranks has been his entertaining promo skills and catchphrases, many of which are loudly shouted back at him by the WWE audience.
While his promos have helped him attain great success in WWE, the Mega Star has admitted that they can also get him into trouble behind-the-scenes.
Speaking to SPORTbible, Knight revealed that his preference of working “off the cuff” doesn’t always mesh well with WWE favouring a structured approach to promo segments.
Knight said:
“Sometimes I get myself in trouble because I like to work a little more off the cuff and sometimes they (WWE management) like a little structure.
“I try to meet them in the middle on that and for me, I want to listen and react instead of thinking of all this prefab. It didn’t feel right to me.
“If I want to be as authentic as I can be and connect with everybody out there, I need to listen. Instead of going out there pre-planned, just being able to be authentically me has been a godsend.
“Sometimes I have to meet them in the middle but for the most part, they’re like, ‘We’ll let you do your thing but just don’t push it!’”
Knight recently passed the 100 day milestone in his first run with WWE championship gold, with his last defence coming at Crown Jewel on November 2, where he knocked off both Andrade and Carmelo Hayes.
