Lars Sullivan competed in his first main roster match on Friday at WWE Super ShowDown. The former NXT star defeated Lucha House Party in a three-on-one handicap match via DQ. However, it has been reported that the match ending was changed very late in the day.
Sullivan then defeated the three masked men once again on Raw, this time in an elimination handicap match, last pinning Gran Metalik in what was a strong showing.
Lars did not appear on this week’s Smackdown in any capacity despite his official home being on the blue brand.
However, Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Sullivan was set to square off with Matt Hardy on Smackdown, but the match was scrapped.
“Lars Sullivan was supposed to wrestle Matt Hardy, maybe they’ll do that next week because that was pulled because Lars Sullivan had a minor injury.”
Lars’ planned match with the wrestling veteran would have been his first singles bout on the main roster. It is likely that Lars would have gone over in what would have probably been another dominant display.
It is thought that Sullivan’s injury is nothing serious, and WWE were just being cautious when they scrapped the match. It is also believed that the match would take place next week on Smackdown.
