An update has been provided on the contract status of AEW wrestler Mel, who is yet to wrestle for the company this year.
Mel (Melanie Cruise) hasn’t competed for AEW since August 2020. With Awesome Kong and Shanna’s contracts recently not being renewed, Mel’s contract status with the promotion seemed up in the air.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), Mel is doing well outside of the ring, succeeding with her day job. She reportedly hasn’t been backstage for recent tapings, and isn’t being factored into any imminent creative plans.
Mel debuted for AEW in December 2019, joining Brandi Rhodes’ Nightmare Collective faction. Mel and Rhodes are the only two women featured on the official AEW roster page to not have wrestled in 2021.
AEW returns to the road with the coming edition of Dynamite. The July 7 “Road Rager” episode will feature the in ring debut of Andrade El Idolo, who is set for action against Matt Sydal.
Eddie Kingston and Penta El Zero M will challenge The Young Bucks for the AEW Tag Team Championship. A new stipulation has been added to this title match, following a declaration from Tony Khan.
