Latest News On Suspended AEW Stars From All Out Backstage Altercation AEW

Here is the latest news on the anticipated returns of those involved in the reported backstage altercation that took place after the post-media scrum for AEW All Out on September 4.

During the post-AEW All Out press conference, CM Punk took verbal aim at several of his fellow locker room members, resulting in a backstage fight allegedly breaking out.

CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson were all involved and were suspended.

In the latest update from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, all five names are still awaiting news of when their suspensions may be lifted.

This news comes after ‘Hangman’ Adam Page had said on AEW Dynamite this week he felt like his ‘old friends’ had disappeared, seemingly in a reference to The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, which led many people to believe a return may have been imminent.

Meltzer wrote:

Regarding the situation with those suspended over the fight (C.M. Punk, Young Bucks, Ace Steel and Kenny Omega), none of the five have heard anything from AEW. All of the five are continuing to get paid, and when you figure the contracts for four of the five are well in excess of $1 million, the total weekly outlay for people who are not working is enormous.

At least one person (not one of the five) who was there has not been interviewed and there may be others. Most are frustrated because they want to be back working at this point.

Punk may be the exception since he can’t work for a long time due to the surgery. None are allowed to speak but several want to, but have no idea if they will ever be allowed to.

Any rumors of anyone being fired, anyone being told they aren’t coming back or anything like that are incorrect as of midweek at least. None have been given any impression of a timetable.

Following the altercation, CM Punk was stripped of the AEW World Championship, but he would have had to vacate the title anyway due to suffering a torn tricep during his match at All Out.

Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were also stripped of the Trios Championship, which indicates that CM Punk may have had to give up his title even if he hadn’t suffered the injury.

Other AEW personnel such as Christopher Daniels, Pat Buck, Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa were all suspended but were later cleared of any wrongdoing.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Khan alluded to CM Punk’s position with AEW including an unspecified office role, which you can read more about right here.
