Latest On Potential NXT Midcard Women’s Championship WWE

The NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship was officially retired last month, when Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler defeated Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn to merge the titles with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

With the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship now retired, there has been speculation that NXT may introduce a midcard championship for the women on the show.

There are many women’s storylines going on on NXT, with Tiffany Stratton and Thea Hail the only feud involving a championship.

Shawn Michaels spoke on the NXT Great American Bash media call, where he was asked about a potential midcard championship for the women.

Shawn said that he would be open to the idea of introducing a women’s midcard championship, but praised the non-title storylines currently going on up and down the division.

One women’s match set for NXT Great American Bash is Roxanne Perez taking on Blair Davenport in a Weapons Wild match following their ongoing heated rivalry.

The two took part in a brawl around a convenience store on this week’s episode of NXT.

During the call, Shawn also addressed Dominik Mysterio’s run on the brand, and him winning the North American Championship.
