An AEW talent has recently talked about the likelihood of AEW working with a former IMPACT World Champion.
With recent events, AEW seem to be open to work with the best of the best, from IMPACT to NJPW. Ensuring a competitive roster, the promotion signed numerous free agents last year to produce one of the most talented locker rooms in the world.
Since becoming a free agent in June 2020, many have theorised that Tessa Blanchard could be on her way to AEW. According to Tony Schiavone, this is not the case.
Speaking on the AEW Dynamite Post-Show, Schiavone noted that he would’ve heard if Blanchard was coming, so doesn’t think AEW plan to work with her anytime soon.
Here is the full quote, courtesy of Wrestling Inc:
“Yes, I don’t think that’s happening, at least not anytime soon. I would have heard that [if she’s coming over].”
Blanchard made history in 2020, becoming the first woman to win the Impact World Championship. This win was overshadowed by allegations of racism from other wrestlers, which Blanchard has always denied.
Since finishing up with IMPACT Wrestling officially in June, Blanchard has not chosen a permanent home. Instead she focused on her wedding and honeymoon with Mexican wrestler Daga.
