Report: The Rock Interested In Match At WrestleMania 39 WWE

Here is the latest update on The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 39.

Following reports and rumors that Dwayne Johnson will return to the ring in April 2023, potentially for a bout against Roman Reigns, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer suggested that The Rock may not be available for a match due to Hollywood commitments.

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has now stated that the current belief is that The Rock is interested in the potential bout, noting:

“The situation with The Rock is – it’s exactly what you think. The belief is Rock wants to do it. They believe that is the probable main event, but they are all well aware that there are things that could get in the way and it could not happen, but the working idea is that match for Roman Reigns against The Rock for Los Angeles (WrestleMania 39). But it is absolutely not etched in stone by any means.”

The Rock last wrestled at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, defeating Erick Rowan (Redbeard) in six seconds. His last extended match took place at WrestleMania 29 in 2013, against John Cena.

The People’s Champion’s biggest WWE rival, Stone Cold Steve Austin, is set to confront Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38, on the KO Show. Despite not being listed for a match, Austin has revealed that he has been training to get back into ‘in-ring shape’.
