Former ECW Heavyweight Champion Sabu says the recent WWE NXT 2300 show from the ECW Arena was a “lame” nostalgia event.

The November 6 edition of WWE NXT took place from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia and featured several ECW legends throughout the broadcast.

The episode featured Bubba Ray Dudley, Rob Van Dam, Dawn Marie, Francine, Nunzio and more legendary ECW names.

One “extreme” mainstay who did not appear during the program was former ECW Heavyweight Champion Sabu.

In a new interview with Covalent TV, Sabu admitted that he felt the WWE NXT 2300 show was lame because you can’t do a ECW reunion show without him or Sandman. He said:

“I thought it was lame.”

“Even though it’s a good show, good wrestlers, it was lame for a nostalgia ECW thing. The building doesn’t look the same. It’s not the same.”

“It’s not really a reunion or a top-notch thing, without me or Sandman. Both of us or one or the other. It’s kind of a must, I think,”

Sabu also added that he believed that Paul Heyman should have appeared on the show as well.

Sabu last appeared on a major wrestling promotion when he showed up at AEW Double Or Nothing to take part in the Adam Cole vs. Chris Jericho Lights Out Match.
