A legendary name was reportedly backstage at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida for this week’s edition of NXT on December 12.
Following reports confirming CM Punk’s backstage presence at the most recent episode of NXT, it now seems as if the Best in the World wasn’t the only unexpected guest in Orlando on Tuesday.
According to PWInsider, WWE Hall of Famer Dory Funk Jr. was backstage for NXT alongside his wife Marti Funk.
Interestingly, Funk Jr’s latest appearance backstage in NXT is his second association with the brand this month alone.
On December 1, NXT star Javier Bernal was greeted by Funk Jr. at an NXT house show in Citrus Springs, Florida.
Funk Jr. is one of the most revered names in pro wrestling history, with the 82-year-old incredibly competing for over 50 years across near-enough every top promotion around the world including: WWE; WCW; ECW; NWA; NJPW and many more.
Incredibly the former NWA World Champion’s last match only came just over five years ago, in a 2018 exhibition bout against Osamu Nishimura in Tokyo, Japan.
