In a bit of a surprise announcement, New Japan has announced The Rock-N-Roll Express will be making their NJPW debut on the Fighting Spirit Unleashed Tour. No, you read that right. The Rock-N-Roll Express will be wrestling for New Japan in 2019.
New Japan’s previous round of North American tours were not well received. Due to work visa issues, very little foreign talent was able to make the shows. However, the latest show in England was very well received and loaded with talent.
So far, this tour seems to be making up for the lack of talent on the last go around. Okada, Jay White, Naito, Tanahashi, Ibushi, Ishii, Archer, and many other NJPW main attractions are booked on the show.
Why would you book the Rock-N-Roll Express? Ricky Morton trained Chase Owens of the Bullet Club. It’s possible they were booked as a favor by Owens. Morton and Gibson did recently appear in ROH. They took on the Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Championships in a surprisingly good match.
Who they will be facing hasn’t been announced yet. WrestleTalk.com will continue to update this story when more information is released.
