Legitimate WWE Backstage Issues Between Rhea Ripley & Jade Cargill Update

An update has emerged on backstage issues revolving around Rhea Ripley and WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill.

Over the past couple of days, Jade Cargill had been getting a lot of attention on social media as she was going back and forth with Rhea Ripley as well as others on the WWE roster, including Chelsea Green and Piper Niven.

There were questions over whether this conflict was planned as part of the build to their WrestleMania match, or a result of legitimate issues with each other.

A statement from Ripley – that was also reposted by her husband AEW star Buddy Matthews – which she soon deleted, about how she and Cargill weren’t friends and weren’t having fun, and saying “learn to work and never lie to defame someone’s character by breaking the fourth wall” pointed towards there being legitimate animosity between them.

In an update from PWInsider Elite about the backstage response to how this situation played out, it was stated that this conflict was not something devised by WWE creative and a number of people in the company are blaming it on Cargill.

The report mentions that a source noted that Cargill “has been criticized by a number of talents for how she rubs others the wrong way,” and “it wasn’t hard” for other talents to jump in and get their opinions out when she was going back and forth with Ripley.

More Jade Cargill WWE Backstage Heat

It was claimed that a while back when Cargill disappeared from WWE TV with some reports claiming it was due to an injury and there being a lot of confusion, that was actually because Cargill was spending working time at the Performance Center to let some personal issues with other talent die down before she came back.

There was another source who said that “sooner or later,” WWE management may have to get involved and speak to Cargill about her relationships with the rest of the locker room.

There was one particular aspect of the back and forth that multiple people in WWE found “troubling,” which was when Cargill implied that Ripley tries to speak to the creative team in order to get ahead of others on the roster.

One person described that as an “upsetting character assassination” and the general sentiment is that Ripley isn’t actually like that at all.

There was one source, who was described as being “close to Cargill,” who played the situation down and simply said this kind of thing is what happens when you have competitive personalities in the same place.

Rhea Ripley is set to appear on SmackDown this Friday to build to the pair’s WWE Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 42 in April.

The match was officially confirmed as a result of Ripley winning the women’s Elimination Chamber match this past Saturday.
