The opening match of the 10/09/2019 episode of NXT TV saw Drew Gulak defend his NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Lio Rush.
Rush earned the title match after defeating Oney Lorcan three weeks ago in his first match back following a six month hiatus from the company.
Gulak and Rush put on a fantastic match, with the mix of Gulak’s hard-hitting style and Rush’s fast-paced offence making for a great hybrid match.
Rush hit a Frog Splash, an awesome stunner and another Frog Splah on what would have been Eddie Guerrero’s 52nd birthday to pick up the win.

The crowd really bought into the match chanting “this is awesome”. Just putting the title on NXT instead of 205 Live has made it feel like a big deal.
If this is the calibre of match we can expect from the cruiserweights on NXT, then we are in for a real treat.
