In summary . . .
No major surprises tonight then, with most of the announcements already leaked or widely expected. Still though, plenty of new names have been confirmed for the roster and several matches for Double Or Nothing appear to be official (or close) as well.
To recap:
Kenny Omega, Pentagon, Fenix, Trent Beretta, Chuckie T, Sammy Guevara and Sonny Kiss are all in. Jimmy Havoc was confirmed earlier. Aja Kong, Yuka Sakazaki, Nyla Rose and Kylie Rae were all added to the women’s division.
The matches we appear to have for Double Or Nothing are:
Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho
Hangman Page vs. PAC
The Young Bucks vs. The Luchas Bros
SCU vs. CIMA & two names TBA from OWE
and possibly Nyla Rose vs. Kylie Ray as well.
Jericho confronts Omega
Chris Jericho, dressed in a way that only he can pull off, comes out to confront Omega. Perhaps inevitably they get into a pull-apart brawl. Is that another Double Or Nothing match? I think so! Their match at Wrestle Kingdom last year was superb, of course – there are no complaints here.
Kenny speaks
“The journey had to come to an end in Japan” – Kenny Omega
“With the platform that we have been given by the Khan family and by each of you people who wanted something different, we couldn’t just stop. We need to make this thing bigger than ever before.” – Kenny Omega
“When I was at All In last year I saw that you guys saw what ‘change the world’ means. I thought to myself ‘why can’t it be this way all the time?’. And guess what everyone, it can” – Kenny Omega
It’s Kenny!
Of course it is.
It is hardly a surprise, but now the speculation can finally end. Kenny Omega is officially with AEW.
He is also the cover star of the latest issue of our SUPERB WrestleTalk Magazine Issue 8 which you should buy right now.
And now it is time for the big announcement . . .

Yasssss indeed! This is a GREAT signing for AEW.
Another match official
SCU plug the official after party SCU All Night then Excalibur brings out representatives from AEW’s other partner promotion, OWE, CIMA and OWE bosses.
#SCU is here @facdaniels @FrankieKazarian @ScorpioSky pic.twitter.com/ZV8EBlODZS

Christopher Daniels challenges CIMA to bring two of his best men to Double Or Nothing to face SCU and that’s our third (maybe fourth) official match announcement.
Brandi has another newcomer to the women’s roster: Nyla Rose. She is a monster heel who has done tours for Sendai Girls and Marvelous in Japan. She is also the current WOW Women’s Champion. She and Rae do a staredown, which suggests they will be meeting at DON but that is not confirmed. A match between Rose and Aja Kong would be something special.
Spinning backhand of DEATH
For those who have never seen Aja Kong, check out what she did to poor Chaparita Asari in perhaps the most brutal women’s match to ever take place on Raw:
Japanese legend signs
Brandi says she promised the best women’s wrestlers in the world and she meant it. She introduces two Japanese wrestlers who will be at Double Or Nothing.
The first is Yuka Sakazaki from Tokyo Joshi Pro and the second is the legendary AJA KONG.
She has been around for some time – she even wrestled at WWE Survivor Series back in 1995! She can still go and she will be a great addition.
Brandi then introduces Kylie Rae (not Kay Lee Ray), who we already knew would be on the roster.
By the way, you can check out our AEW Roster Tracker, which gets updated daily, to keep tabs on the signings (will be updated after live stream).
Time for Brandi Rhodes, the Chief Brandi Officer, to introduce some newcomers in the women’s division.
The story so far
So far we have had the following names confirmed for the roster:
Pentagon, Fenix, Trent Beretta, Chuckie T, Sammy Guevara and Sonny Kiss
The two matches we appear to have for Double Or Nothing are:
Hangman Page vs. PAC
The Young Bucks vs. The Luchas Bros
The Lucha Bros
Having been challenged by The Young Bucks a few days ago, Pentagon and Fenix are here to accept.
They do more than that! Fenix drills Nick with a superkick and Pentagon drills Matt with a package piledriver on the stage.
It looks like we have our Double Or Nothing main event.
More new faces
Nick Jackson introduces the latest additions to the roster, “one of our favourite tag teams to wrestle” . . .
And it is Best Friends, Chuckie T and Trent Beretta.
They left New Japan a couple of days ago and were widely expected to join the promotion.
Tag team wrestling
After some microphone troubles, the Bucks talk about their childhood wrestling fandom and their desire when growing up to become one of the top tag teams of all time. Matt Jackson says he is humbled by fans referring to them as one of the top 10 tag teams of all time but complains that tag wrestling has become a lost art.
“You can’t even see tag team wrestling on wrestling programmes anymore. That’s all about to change. Our objective is to give you the best tag team wrestling in the world.” – Matt Jackson
Here come The Young Bucks.
Website crash
Fans are so desperate to get tickets to Double Or Nothing that the website is crashing, according to our pal Drew Hazard:

As frustrating as that is, it can only be a good sign for AEW.
The Bastard vs. The Hangman
Page promises to his “bosses” (the crowd) that he will be in the best shape of his life at Double Or Nothing. He again talks about his desire to be the first ever AEW World Champion and cuts a promo on PAC.
Or at least, he tries to. PAC cuts him off via the Dwayne Johnson special, the live satellite feed . . . on his mobile phone.
“I can see you there standing there, your a–hole flapping like a napkin in the wind” – PAC
PAC calls Page a cocky, elitist prick and calls himself “exceptional” before challenging him to a match at Double Or Nothing.
“Too bad he couldn’t be here tonight. He’s doing what he does best – sitting at home” – Page.
Page wants to make it official for DON: The Bastard vs. The Hangman.
Hangman Page is out next . . .
And the second newcomer . . .
Sammy Guevara is the next member of the roster. He was a sought after talent on the indy scene and was at one stage expected to join WWE. He is the current AAA Cruiserweight champ and has also worked for the likes of DDT, MLW and PWG in the past year. He is good! Not as good as he thinks he is, because he calls himself the best wrestler in the world, but good nevertheless.
Tickets!

‘Revolution’
Cody, sporting a fine winter jacket, calls AEW a “revolution”. He confirms what we already touched upon earlier that AEW has forged a working relationship with AAA from Mexico. In theory this is a good thing, as AAA does have some very good wrestlers. Truth be told though, they also have some, ahem, less good ones! Last year the promotion held some drastically bad pay-per-views, in addition to some pretty good ones, so hopefully AEW are going to cherry pick which talent they use.
Cody talks about tickets and gives out some details for pre-sales codes and such. We will have the full details on the site for those shortly.
This is Sonny Kiss, for those unaware. Cody is out next.
AEW press conferences are more exciting than Raw in 2019.

We’ve gotta say, you’re not wrong.
The first name is . . .
Sonny Kiss. Sorry folks, I know very little about him other than that he has worked, primarily as a manager, for Lucha Underground.
And we’re live . . .
We have some cool graphics to kick us off. Production is way better than the rally in January. Any predictions for who might show up tonight? I have Goldberg, Austin Aries and Bea Priestley . . . The crowd chants for Randy Orton!
20,000
There are 20,000 people tuning in right now on the Being The Elite YouTube channel. They have beaten Mixed Match Challenge, anyway. It should be noted that the stream is available across multiple channels. We should have a better idea of the total number by the end of the broadcast.
MJF gatecrashes
MJF invades the pre-show to insult Conrad and put himself over. He goes for the cheap heat, picking on Conrad’s weight and calling the crowd losers. They call him an “a–hole”. Fair trade. He’s a good promo and looks set to be AEW’s version of The Miz.
‘Lots of surprises’
We are being promised lots of surprises tonight at the MGM Grand, with all the talk about potential opponents for Cody and The Young Bucks at Double Or Nothing. Conrad Thompson on the pre-show panel says he thinks the roster will be getting a lot larger tonight.
Remember, you can watch along live right here:
New partnership announced
Welcome everyone to WrestleTalk.com’s live coverage of the AEW Double Or Nothing ticket announcement party. It all kicks off in around 20 minutes but before then we have big news from the official AEW Twitter account:
We are an hour away from the #DoubleOrNothing Ticket Announcement Party but the news is breaking now! @aewrestling and @luchalibreaaa are teaming up to #ChangeTheWorld pic.twitter.com/df01nPTCpu
— All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) February 8, 2019
AEW is officially partnering with Mexican group AAA, which pretty much rules out for sure any working agreement between ROH/NJPW and AEW, due to their strong ties with AAA rival CMLL. It does open the door to the possibility of a deal with Impact Wrestling though . . .
