AEW: Dynamite Live Results – January 13, 2021
    AEW

It’s Wednesday and you know what that means. WrestleTalk is here with your live results for AEW: Dynamite. Tonight is night two of New Year’s Smash. The main draw tonight is Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage for the TNT Championship.

Here is the advertised card for tonight:

    • The Elite in a 6-Man Tag Team Match
    • Serena Deeb vs. Tay Conti
    • Eddie Kingston vs. PAC
    • Jurassic Express vs. FTR
    • Chuck Taylor vs. Miro – If Chuck loses he must be Miro’s Young Boy
    • Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage
    • The Waiting Room debuts on Dynamite
    • The Inner Circle makes their New Year’s Resolutions

    9:45pm

    Darby defends against Cage

Taz says they were only allowed to have two guys ringside tonight. So, they went with Hook and Starks. I think I’d have picked Taz and Hobbs.

Brian Cage just threw Darby Allin about 20 feet through a table ringside. Allin’s head is split open. Cage is looking incredibly dominant. Of course, this is how Allin’s matches go.

He takes a beating and then comes back for the win. And, he’s taking one hell of a beating in this one. If Darby tossing was an Olympic event, Brian Cage would be a gold medal winner.

Cage sets up some steel steps, Allin manages to hit a Coffin Drop onto Cage on the steel steps.  In the middle of the match, Darby Allin takes off his belt and ties it around the legs of Cage. Cage still manages to throw Allin with his feet tied together.

Hook and Ricky Starks interfere and the lights go out. Sting takes out Starks. Cage goes for an avalanche Samoan Drop, but Allin reverses it from the top. Allin pins Cage and retains the TNT Championship.

After the match, all of Team Taz start to head down to the ring. Team Taz stands on the ramp as snow begins to fall.

I’m not sure how long Sting just coming out every week to stop Taz from beating up Allin can last. It’s already getting to be a bit repetitive. Of course, WCW had him standing in the rafters doing the same thing every week for a year.

    See you Friday for SmackDown.

This doesn't look good for our TNT Champion @DarbyAllin.

NWA Women's Title on The Line

Conti is challenging Serena Deeb for the NWA Women’s Championship. The commentary is trying to put over Deeb as a wrestling guru. They bring up the fact that Deeb was a trainer when Conti just started wrestling. Of course, they don’t mention NXT where it actually happened.

This match has been really good. Some smart guy who covers AEW Dynamite every week talked about how Deeb was a great pick for AEW. She has experience and is really solid. She makes some of these women who are fairly new to the business look really good. This has been the best I’ve ever seen Conti.

It would seem strange for Conti to win the NWA Championship here, but some of these near falls have got me. In the end, Deeb hits the Detox and gets the win. That match was really, really good.

Conti holds hands with Anna Jay after the match, while Deeb looks weirdly on.

    The main event is next.

.@TayConti_ is absolutely relentless in her attack onto @SerenaDeeb!

    9:15pm

    FTR vs. Jurassic Express

Marko got pissed off last week and inserted himself in this match. Marko smacks Harwood and FTR just try to beat on Marko for a while.

Marko was in the ring for a long time. He took a beating from FTR. Jungle Boy gets a hot tag and he unleashes on FTR. Jungle Boy hits a brainbuster on Wheeler, but Harwood was legal.

Harwood rolls up Jungle Boy for a near fall. Jungle Boy tags Stunt. Stunt is in and gets beat up until he hits a low blow. This allows him to hit a cutter and get a near fall.

The match was very competitive until Tully rams Marko into the post. Wheeler takes out Jungle Boy and they hit the Big Rig for the win. This was a lot longer than I expected, but it was good, really good.

    Deeb vs. Conti is next.

    WHAT 👏 A 👏 MATCH!

    The Waiting Room

The Waiting Room is not great. Baker is doing some comedy. It’s like a cross between Miz/Morrison and Royce/Kay’s comedy. Rebel is fun though. Baker had a few good jokes in there. I particularly enjoyed the slam on Cody’s neck tattoo.

Baker brings out Cody, but before he can talk, Baker brings out Jade Cargill.

Cargill gets in Cody’s face and says Shaq and her are tired of Cody. She shoves Cody and Red Velvet comes out to make the save. The two brawl and the ladies were conveniently standing by to break up the brawl.

The camera awkwardly cuts to Baker beating up Thunder Rosa from a few weeks ago. Thunder Rose cuts a promo from home. The match was delayed because of COVID. The match will now take place at Beach Break on February 3rd.

That segment was the most WWE segment I’ve ever seen on AEW. The comedy was forced. The promos felt forced and not natural. That was not great.

FTR vs. Jurassic Express is next.

    8:47pm

    The Elite is back together

Backstage, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks are being interviewed. Kenny Omega says they were going to do the 3 Man Elite entrance, but Don Callis says they are just going to give them a special entrance.

Kenny Omega comes out to his new entrance. Don Callis starts to do his big intro for The Young Bucks, but at the very end, he announces it’s The Good Brother instead. Bait and switch. The Good Brothers and Kenny Omega are wrestling The Varsity Blondes and Danny Limelight.

The Good Brothers and Kenny Omega dominate this match. The Blondes and Limelight tried to put a fight and had a few moments, but in the end, The “Elite” were too much.

As soon as the match was over and The Good Brothers had just hit The Magic Killer, Jon Moxley’s music hits. Moxley comes in and attacks. It was 3 on 1 until The Lucha Bros come out to help Moxley.

A bunch of guys come out from the back to break up the fight. Eventually, The Young Bucks come out and play the middle ground. The Lucha Bros come back in and hit a double superkick on The Young Bucks.  Your typical brawl, but it doesn’t feel quite as dramatic as you’d hope. It was still very good though.

    The Waiting Room is next.

'The Elite' so far is running the show in this six-man tag-team match!

    The Inner Circle

Man, fans love to sing Jericho’s song. Hager szways his resolution is championships. Ortiz wants to master a sofrito recipe.

Jericho says he’s predicting tag team championships for him and MJF. Sammy says Jericho is a tag team slut. He says he’s teaming with MJF, Hager, and Sammy. He wants to know why Jericho can’t pick a partner.

Santana wants to know why he keeps talking about tag teams when Proud and Powerful were recruited to be the Inner Circle tag team. This results in them announcing a triple threat tag team match to determine the official tag team of The Inner Circle.

It’s Proud-N-Powerful versus MJF and Jericho vs. Sammy Hager. Get it. Sammy Hager.

After the segment, we cut backstage to an Inner Circle interview. They say everything they do going forward will be to honor Brodie Lee. They invite Hangman Page into the interview. After a few questions, John Silver gets Hangman Page to commit to a decision on joining the Dark Order. He will let them know next week.

NEXT WEEK for the fiirst time ever!
    It's the Inner Circle Tag Team Challenge.@santana_proud & @ortiz_powerful vs. @sammyguevara & @realjakehager vs. @IAmJericho & @The_MJF.

    8:21pm

    Miro vs. Chuck Taylor

Miro vs. Chuck Taylor is the second match of the night. Miro has gotten in even in better shape. This match was intense, but it wasn’t the best match we’ve ever seen.

Miro beats up Chuck Taylor and gets the win. He locks in the Game Over and Taylor has to submit. Taylor is now going to be Miro’s young boy.

After the match, he stares down Orange Cassidy. It seems though we’re heading towards Orange and Miro.

Backstage, Hardy and Private Party are doing an interview. Private Party is part of the Hardy Brand and not happy about it. They didn’t read the fine print and he’s taking 30%. Hardy talks about learning hard lessons and that no one cares. He cares and they just need to shut up and listen.

Out next is The Inner Circle.

.@SexyChuckieT is now the butler for @ToBeMiro and with @trentylocks out with injury, there's absolutely nothing @orangecassidy can do about it.

    8:01pm

    PAC vs. Kingston

PAC vs. Eddie Kingston is starting off the show. While Allin vs. Cage will the main event and should be, this is the match I’m looking forward to most on the show. PAC is fantastic and Eddie Kingston made the most of his opportunities in 2020.

The match starts off fast with PAC going off on Kingston. The contrast in styles in this match is glaring. PAC is so smooth and just a technical masterpiece. Meanwhile, Kingston is the opposite of a smooth wrestler. Doesn’t matter though. His ability to tell a story in the ring makes up for any lack in technique or lack of athleticism.

These guys are doing a good job of selling the fact that they don’t like each other and making this feel like more than a normal match. It definitely feels more intense. I love the fact they were able to do that without having to have the smoke and mirrors of a hardcore match.

PAC picks up the big win. He hits the Black Arrow. He picks up the pin. After the match, he immediately locks in the Brutalizer. This pulls all the other guys into the ring for a stand-off.

Lance Archer comes down to the ring and chases off the family. Archer then gets in the face of PAC. Apparently, whatever they had going is off. I’d be down for Archer vs. PAC.

    Taylor vs. Miro is next.

    .@MadKing1981 unleashing a brutal attack onto @BASTARDPAC!
