WrestleTalk is back with your live results for AEW: Dynamite. Tonight is being billed as Negative 1’s birthday bash. It should be a great show. Hangman Page is making his decision. The IMPACT Tag Team #1 Contenders are in action as Private Party team up with Matt Hardy. As always, we’ll be here for it all.
Here’s what is advertised for the show:
- Kenny Omega to address his dominance
- Jon Moxley in action
- Hangman Page and the Dark Order vs. TH2 and Chaos Project
- Cody Rhodes vs. Pretty Peter Avalon
- -1 Birthday
- Legit Leyla Hirsch vs. Penelope Ford
- MJF/Jericho vs. Sammy Hager vs. Santana/Ortiz
- Sting congratulates Darby Allin
- Private Party and Matt Hardy vs. Matt Sydal and Top Flight
- Miro introduces his butler Charles Taylor
Inner Circle Challenge
Sammy and Jericho start the match off. In all the wonderful stories in AEW to close out 2021, one of the guys who didn’t have a great end of the year was Sammy Guevara. His feud with Matt Hardy was marred by injuries and spots that didn’t go as planned. However, when he’s able to just focus on his in-ring wrestling, he’s so good. He got to show that off tonight against Jericho early on.
Up next, Proud-n-Powerful get in and show off some of the tag team moves we haven’t seen from them much here in AEW. While I wasn’t sure about this Inner Circle in-fighting, each member of the faction have had a chance to show off because of it. Wardlow got a win over Hager. Sammy, Santana, and Ortiz are looking great in this one.
MJF finally tags in and Hager gives Sammy the hot tag. Before he can get too much offense in, Ortiz tags in.
During the match, AEW announces the main event for Beach Break. Moxley and Lucha Bros vs. Omega and The Good Brothers.
Sammy hits a huge Poisonrana on MJF. He transitions into an avalanche Spanish Fly on Ortiz. Jericho grabs the bat. He goes to hit Hager and Hager hits the big boot.
MJF grabs the ring and Hager catches him. Hager plants him. Near fall for Jericho. It’s too fast to keep up. This match has been great. Of course, no one is following the rules, but it is a triple threat. So, it’s no DQ. Maybe? Hell, I don’t know.
All I do know is this has been the best match by far on this show and feels the most like an AEW match we’re used too. We’re about to run out of time. Sammy hits the GTH on Jericho. He goes to hit it on MJF, but Wardlow interferes.
MJF rolls him up for the win. MJF and Jericho pick up the win and are the official team of Inner Circle.

Hirsch vs. Ford
Ford and Hirsch are having a match, but it seems like the story is focused on Charles Taylor and Miro. Orange Cassidy is in the crowd watching along.
Commentary is trying to put over Hirsch. Taylor trips Hirsch at the bidding of Miro and Sabian. The numbers are too much for Hirsch.
Hirsch was incredibly impressive during the match, but in the end, Kip Sabian grabbed her leg and prevented her from being able to kick out.
After the match, Miro grabs a mic and make Taylor tell Orange he’s not his best friend anymore. This segment fell pretty flat.
The match was great. The post-match promo was fine.
Then, backstage, Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers attack Penta El Zero M. Omega drove his fancy boots into the eye of Penta. Looks like we might get that Penta/Omega match again soon. Or, we might get a battle of the brothers. The Good vs. The Lucha.

Top Flight and Sydal vs. The Hardy Party
This is the battle of two terrific young teams partnered with two older guys. Sydal is much closer to the same guy he was 15 years ago than Matt Hardy.
Sydal and Top Flight hit some nice combination moves, but they seemed to have botched the final move. This was the first time I’ve seen them not execute perfectly.
Hardy looks great in this match, but as the match continues, Private Party seems to have embraced the dark side.
During the match, Kassidy uses a chair while the referee is distracted. Quen looks happy his partner cheated. After the bell rings, Private Party attack and Hardy hits twists of fates on all the other team.
The Inner Circle is gathering backstage. MJF says if he had it his way this match wouldn’t happen later. MJF continues his good guy routine and puts Jericho down.
He hits fist bumps with each of the other members, minus Sammy. Legit Leyla Hirsch and Penelope Ford are next.
👀 WHAT JUST HAPPENED?omit_script=1!

Eddie Kingston interview
Eddie Kingston addresses Lance Archer. Kingston says he doesn’t prepare. He just fights.
Up walks Archer and he gets in the face of Kingston. They argue. Then Jake and Kingston argue. They are wrestling next week.
I think Lance Archer is better when he doesn’t speak. Yet, I’m not sure Roberts is the guy for him. He might be better with Taz.
Kenny Omega walks in and he doesn’t seem to have any idea what happened earlier in the day. We’re clearly seeing Callis messing with Omega or Omega is selling it well.

Jon Moxley in action
Jon Moxley is taking on Nick Comorato. Comorato used to wrestle in NXT as Nick Ogarelli.
He’s a big dude and is apparently a student of QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes. He’s taking it to Jon Moxley tonight.
Back to back matches where AEW stars are selling to lower card talent.
Moxley finally gets it going with some massive kicks. Moxley hits a clothesline that does nothing. Comorato puts him in a rack position, but Moxley locks in a rear choke.
Moxley puts him to sleep and wins the match. After the match, he wants the mic.
He says he can’t keep with all of the happenings in Bullet Club or whatever Omega is calling his crew. He says it’s going to be more fun because he’ll have more bones to break.

Cody vs. Peter Avalon
Cody Rhodes hits the Cross Rhodes immediately. This brings out Jade Cargill.
While the ref is looking away, Avalon kicks Cody in the junk. Avalon then continues to attack Cody.
Cody eventually regains control. Well, not actually. Avalon hits a Superplex prior to us heading to commercial. Cody loves putting his opponents over, but I’m not sure what the upside is for Avalon.
Avalon continues to attack the leg of Cody, but he goes for a Moonsault and misses. Yet, Avalon recovers and maintains control.
Now, Cody locks in a Figure Four. He slaps Cody Rhodes in the face trying to get out. Cody goes to slap him back, but Avalon taps to avoid getting hit in the face. He doesn’t even sell the figure four.
Questionable booking in this one.
After the match, Jungle Boy and Jurassic Express approach FTR. Harwood and Jungle Boy are going one on one. Luchasaurus promises to make sure no one gets involved.

Meeting of The Elite
The Young Bucks are heading to Kenny Omega’s house for a meeting of The Elite. Omega couldn’t be there. Don Callis is there and he tries to buy them off.
He basically pays them off to no longer be Omega’s friends. The Bucks get very, very mad and end up attacking Callis.
Basically, Callis is trying to drive a wedge between Omega and his old friends. He wants to be closer to Kenny. I’m not sure where this is headed, but watching certainly is fun.
Up next, Cody Rhodes is taking on Pretty Peter Avalon.
Da hell….

Sting and Allin
Prior to the Sting/Allin segment, Jericho and MJF cut a pretty typical MJF and Jericho promo. It was good and funny. They promote their tag match later tonight.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring. He announces Sting and Allin. Sting doesn’t say much before Taz cuts him off.
Taz says Sting and Allin don’t fight fair. They reference the fact that Allin and Sting use belts, skateboards, and bats to fight. Meanwhile, his team have been gentlemen,
Taz vows this is going to change and they are challenging them to take it to the streets. Allin says be careful what you wish for.
Sounds like we’re going to get a Street Fight with Sting and Allin. That’s an easy way to have Sting fight but protect him as well.
We have to say, this friendship between @Sting and @DarbyAllin is pretty cool. Can they manage to handle the powerful faction of Team Taz?omit_script=1#AEWDynamite is available on https://t.co/zvOOm4JoWK in select Intl markets from #FITE pic.twitter.com/toscMeYK8e

Happy Birthday -1
Tonight, -1 is celebrating his birthday. John Silver reminds us Hangman Page has a decision to make tonight. But first, he gets the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to Brodie Lee, Jr.
Luther cuts a promo in retaliation to -1’s promo on Dark a few weeks ago. Luther calls him stupid looking and a doofus. This prompts a big fight and Hangman Page comes out to take out the entire crew of TH2 and Chaos Project.
Hangman Page gets a hot tag and takes out everyone. There’s no doubt who’s winning this one, especially on the kid’s birthday. Luther goes to put Cabana in the birthday cake, but Brodie Lee, Jr. hits him with the kendo stick and Luther falls into the cake instead.
It’s very nice that AEW is taking care of Lee, Jr. While it’s silly and predictable, it isn’t taking away from the storyline. -1 hits Serpentico after the match and throws the papers because his birthday was 3 days ago.
It’s business time. Will Hangman Page join the dark order?
He said “I can’t.” Dark Order had a celebration planned, but it started a bit too early. Hangman said he had done the group thing before and it didn’t end too well for him before. Hangman grabs the bottle of whiskey on the way out.
