Chris Jericho and Lance Archer vs. Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi

Big brawl feel with notable moments – Moxley grabbing Jericho’s face and showing him to the camera, screaming “Blood and f***ing Guts!!” and of course by the end, complete pandemonium as there is a run out from, well seemingly everyone – all of JAS, Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz, Murder Grandpa, poor Tay Conti is just trying to stay out of the way and not fall down in her very high heels as all hell is breaking loose at ringside.

In a nice touch, while there is crazy brawling going on all around the outside, the challengers for the AEW Interim World Championship, Tanahashi and Moxley were seemingly aggressively but calmly going nose to nose in the middle of the ring. It could have been a really beautifully cinematic shot if production had captured a wide shot and lingered a bit, it was actually a very cool scene.

There we have it – let’s go run through the Forbidden Door, everybody!

Women's Roster Quarter Hour!

An awesome promo from Jade Cargill, Stokely Hathaway and Kiera Hogan announcing Red Velvet is injured and they’re searching for another Baddie, into a commercial break.

After a commercial break, another very amusing promo this time from Kris Statlander and Athena, essentially a hilarious response to the Hathaway/Cargill promo they just cut, also saying they’re still rolling with Willow Nightingale, which I also love!

Next up, the women’s match on AEW Dynamite, Marina Shafir vs. Toni Storm.

Toni Storm beats Shafir via pinfall, after the match Nyla Rose attacks (after having interfered in the match and accompanying Marina Shafir to ringside somewhat randomly) which then summons Thunder Rosa to lead to their stare down in advance of their AEW Women’s World Championship match at Forbidden Door.

This concludes the AEW Women’s quarter-hour as the match and ensuing staredown concluded promptly by 6:30pm.

Hangman Adam Page vs. Silas Young

A massive, hard-hitting match by two old ROH foes that went back and forth with big action.

A giant buckshot lariat from the former champ (punctuated by Tony Schiavone saying to Adam Cole, “You know how hard that Buckshot Lariat is!” and Cole says, “Shut up Schiavone!”) and Page picks up the pinfall victory.

Cole hops on the mic and says it’s time for story time with Adam Cole Bay-Bay! before being interrupted by Jay White who says HE is the catalyst of professional wrestling, he can’t do a favor for a friend by making it Bullet Club vs. Undisputed Elite at Forbidden Door – so it won’t be you Adam Cole, you lost to Hangman!

Jay White continues to run his mouth on his way to meet Hangman in the ring, telling him it WON’T be him until Hangman lets his fists do some talking and a brawl ensues with Hangman lining up for a Buckshot on Jay White when Adam Cole lands a low blow, knocking him off the ring apron setting up White and Cole to continue the beatdown. As Cole is holding the IWGP Championship belt, it is unclear what he’s planning on until he tells White to set Hangman up for a bashing BUT instead, Kazuchika Okada is here!!

Okada sets up for a Rainmaker but the Switchblade is able to escape with his IWGP Championship, leaving Okada and Hangman in the ring together and a staredown between all four men.

Later in the show, it was announced that it would be Jay White vs. Hangman Adam Page vs. Adam Cole vs. Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Championship at Forbidden Door!

Penta Oscuro vs. Malakai Black

These two put on the exactly competitive and brutal match you might expect with Penta selling a back injury throughout and finally selling the expertly laid Black Mass perfectly for Malakai Black to capture the pinfall victory and roll into the All-Atlantic Championship finals on Sunday!

After the match, Pac runs out and there is also an onscreen promo from Miro who is coming to WIN on Sunday!

Christian Cage in-ring promo

An in-ring promo from Christian Cage explaining his actions against Jungle Boy last week with formulaic precision – he doesn’t give a s**t about mentoring young talent, he hitched his wagon to Jungle Boy for the money and you people on your cesspool Twitter don’t know what you’re talking about. He doesn’t come to your fast food worker job and slap burgers out of your hands, so don’t tell him how to do his job.

While he didn’t have on a backward Kangol hat, the turtleneck + the mocking Jungle Boy’s IRL deceased Father (beloved 90s icon, Luke Perry) it was a cheap heel heat sports entertainment promo while engaging, felt several months too late.

Will Ospreay and Aussie Open vs.Orange Cassidy and Roppongi Vice

This match was a BANGER and well worth checking it out in full as it really sets the stage for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, showcasing excellent AEW talent in the returning from injury Orange Cassidy and the exceptional Roppongi Vice made up of Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero taking on NJPW interlopers, Will Ospreay and Aussie Open.

Trent Beretta, Trent Beretta, Trent Beretta!

Orange Cassidy & Roppongi Vice win by pinfall after an Orange Punch from Cassidy and getting the pinfall on Kyle Fletcher.

By the end of the match, the invading faction had also been joined at ringside by the IWGP tag team champions,  United Empire (Great-O-Khan and Jeff Cobb) with a 5 on 3 numbers advantage… until FTR also joined the fray and there was a massive 10 man staredown headed into the commercial break.

Bryan Danielson in the ring

The American Dragon Bryan Danielson comes out and tells us there is some good news, there is some bad news – bad news: He is not cleared to compete at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door or Blood & Guts, which he names is due to Chris Jericho and Jake Hager at the Anarchy in the Arena match.

Good news: He WILL be back and he’s already found his replacement for Forbidden Door to take on Zack Sabre Jr. but he refuses to disclose who it is, because he said “I came through the heel tunnel,” which is hard to argue with.

ZSJ comes out to the ramp and they have a short staredown type exchange but we’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out who his actual Forbidden Door opponent is!

It's Wednesday, you know what that means!
