You can read more about this match here.
The story of this match was clearly that Will Ospreay had the speed advantage while Shingo Takagi had the edge with power. While some have tried to fly with Ospreay, Takagi tried to neutralize Ospreay’s offence with his own strength.
Shingo took control on the outside. He dropped Ospreay face-first on the ring apron before hitting a huge dive to the outside. Ospreay got on a roll as he hit a top-rope 619, a corner dropkick, a standing Shooting Star Press, a Sasuke Special and the Pip Pip Cheerio for a nearfall. Takagi took control with a devastating clothesline.
Ospreay turned a suplex attempt into a Stunner. He hit a Yakuza kick and followed with the Cheeky Nandos kick. Ospreay went for a top-rope Stormbreaker but Takagi began exchanging strikes. Ospreay attempted a top-rope hurricanrana but Takagi reversed it into a top-rope Death Valley Driver.
They did an incredible sequence that led to Takagi reversing an Oscutter into a Noshigami. Ospreay missed the Robinson Special and Takagi threw Ospreay into the turnbuckle. Ospreay hit a hook kick and hit the Oscutter on the apron. Ospreay hit a 630 Shooting Star Press to Takagi’s back and a Shooting Star Press for a nearfall.
Ospreay hit the Robinson Special and the Oscutter for a very close nearfall. Ospreay could not believe he did not win. The pair exchanged strikes and Takagi hit Last of the Dragon for a nearfall. Takagi did not have Ospreay hooked all the way for the move. Takagi hit a pair of Pumping Bombers for another nearfall.
Ospreay reversed Last of the Dragon into a reverse-rana. Ospreay hit the Spanish Fly, a hook kick, the Hidden Blade, a top-rope Oscutter and Stormbreaker to beat Shingo Takagi and win the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
