Pete Dunne (c) def. Joe Coffey – WWE UK Championship

The main event kicked off relatively slowly with a technical battle between both men in which the ‘Bruiserweight’ consistently prevailed with his trademark targeted offense and holds.

After a few minutes, things started heating up even more as the action spilled to the outside where Coffey slammed Dunne down on the ramp, prompting “Mama Mia!” chants from the crowd.

This led to a period of dominance from the bigger man, using his size advantage to get the upper hand and a few nearfalls until Dunne launched a comeback with some strikes and a moonsault on the outside.

A powerbomb from Coffey got a nearfall and Dunne just made the ropes to escape some submissions before both men knocked each other down with simultaneous headbutts.

After both men exchange more submissions, Dunne lands a Bitter End but Coffey manages to kick out at two, and the Gallus member proceeds to land a powerbomb on the apron to the champion.

Dunne kicked out of a Coffey discuss clothesline for a great nearfall. Coffey attempts another but Dunne catches it into an armbar and tries to snap Coffey’s fingers. Coffey uses his power to muscle Dunne onto the top turnbuckle but Pete managed to keep the hold locked in, before Coffey spun it out into a powerbomb off the top.

Both men are down for a couple of minutes but both rise into a brawl with Dunne beating Coffey down with a series of blows to a great reaction from the crowd.

Things slow down again as Coffey attempts a Bitter End on Dunne but the ‘Bruiserweight’ counters with a spike DDT and a hits Bitter End of his own. However, he takes too long getting into the pin and Coffey rolls out the ring. Coffey on the apron lands another discuss clothesline.

Both men are on the top turnbuckle but crash onto the outside, and Coffey rolls done into the ring and once again attempts the Bitter End. He can’t hit it but does turn it into a slam of some variety for a nearfall.

They then both make their way to the top turnbuckle again and AGAIN fall to the floor… I am unsure if this was meant to happen or not. Either way it made it entertaining.

They didn’t try it a third time though, instead Dunne landed a standard Bitter End. Coffey still kicked out of this, but the ‘Bruiserweight’ locked in a submission almost instantaneously for the win.

The end credits play with Dunne celebrating in the ring before we hear a somewhat familiar symphony as WALTER makes his entrance and confronts the UK Champion in the ring. Coffey tries to join them but WALTER just kicks him out.

WALTER and Dunne staredown for a minute or so, but don’t come to blows. I think Dunne might have a new challenger…

Toni Storm def. Rhea Ripley – NXT UK Women’s Champion

The match started with quite a quick pace with the bigger Rhea Ripley on top for the first few minutes despite the crowd trying to rally behind Storm.

Despite her best efforts, Storm really just couldn’t get going and Ripley had an answer for every attempted recovery.

Eventually, Storm managed to counter a running attack with a headbutt, but couldn’t immediately take advantage and both women were left down in the ring.

Storm did recover enough to land two German Suplexes but two Storm Zero attempts were blocked by the champion.

The challenger showed great heart by becoming the first ever member of  NXT UK to kick out of the Riptide, before landing a Storm Zero which got a nearfall.

A bit more back-and-forth between both women followed before a second Storm Zero spelled the end and we have a new NXT UK Women’s Champion!

Kay Lee Ray & Jazzy Gabert in the Crowd

After Mastiff vs. Dennis was over, the camera panned to the crowd where we saw former MYC participants and stars of the indie scene Kay Lee Ray and Jazzy Gabert aka Alpha Female!

Up next the NXT Women’s Title is on the line, as Rhea Ripley defends against Toni Storm.

Dave Mastiff def. Eddie Dennis

Third up, we’ve got the first ever no DQ match in NXT UK history as the rather large Eddie Dennis takes on the rather large Dave Mastiff.

It didn’t take long for weapons to make an appearance, with Dennis repeatedly striking Mastiff with a kendo stick. The Welshman got a bit cocky though and Mastiff soon repaid the favor.

Steps were up next, as Dennis impressively caught Mastiff and slammed him onto the steps in the ring.

Mastiff resorted to attempting a springboard moonsault, but Dennis managed to roll out the way and hit a Neck Stop Driver leading to a nearfall.

After Mastiff kicked out, Eddie required a Seven Bridge through a table propped up in the corner but Mastiff managed to escape before he could get to the corner.

This left Dennis groggy as Mastiff hit a cannonball through the table for the win.

Finn Bálor def. Jordan Devlin

Devlin opens the match with a slap to Bálor, which prompted a fast opening flurry from the former Universal Champion.

Shortly after dodging a Coup de Grace from Bálor, Devlin took the upper hand mocking Finn, and Bálor almost got counted out but managed to get back in at two.

The crowd were, of course, firmly behind Finn, who soon took control once more. A Pele Kick left both men down in the ring, with Finn recovering first and hitting a 1916 for a nearfall.

Bálor smashed Devlin with a driveby kick on the apron before attempting a Coup de Grace that was prevented by Devlin. The ‘Irish Ace’ then tried for a roll-up pin with his feet on the ropes but Finn kicked out at two.

Shortly after, a Shotgun Dropkick followed up by a Coup de Grace sealed the win for Finn.

Finn Bálor vs. Jordan Devlin

Second up, we’ve got the ‘Kiwi Busszaw’ Travis Banks taking on Irishman Jordan Devlin. Earlier in the night, Devlin attacked Banks backstage.

OH NO WE HAVEN’T.

Banks made his entrance first, and while Devlin was making his, Banks dived out of the ring and the two brawled at ringside, with Devlin targeting the left leg that was still injured form the assault earlier.

Backstage officials ran out to ringside including the assistant GM Sid Scala. Banks was being carried backstage by referees, and Johnny Saint came out to announce a replacement to take on Devlin.

That replacement is none other than Raw’s Finn Bálor!

Bálor vs. Devlin, up next.

Gibson & Drake def. Moustache Mountain – NXT UK Tag Team Championships

Kicking off the night we’ve got tag team action to crown the first ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions, as Tyler Bate and Trent Seven of Moustache Mountain take on the team of James Drake and Liverpool’s No.1, Zack Gibson!

The live crowd in the Empress Ballroom was white hot for the start if this one, getting behind inaugural WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate facing off against scouser Gibson.

After MM were on top for the first few minutes with some great offense from Bate, a blind tag with Gibson coming into the match turned the tables and the heels worked over Seven for a short while.

A blow from Drake to the back of Seven bust him open an added some lovely red detail to his white hair.

Bate eventually managed to make a tag, and proceeded to demonstrate an unbelievable show of strength by performing an airplane spin with both opponents on his shoulders.

B I G S T R O N G B O I indeed. Bate soon landed a diving headbutt on Gibson and tagged in Seven leading to a nearfall. Seven also hit a Burning Hammer on Gibson. with the pin broken up by Drake at two.

After preventing a double team from MM, Gibson landed a Helter Skelter on Seven, and Drake a 450 splash, but Trent kicked out at two for a phenomenal nearfall.

Liverpool’s No. 1 then locked in the Shankly Gates on Seven as both men were legal, and James Drake locked one in on Bate at the same time. Tyler managed to escape his with a great show of strength, and broke up Gibson’s leaving all four men down in the ring.

Moustache Mountain double team Drake leading to another excellent nearfall, before Drake dives out the ring onto Bate who was on Gibson’s shoulders in an Electric Chair. With Bate out on the outside, Drake and Gibson land a Ticket to Mayhem on Seven for the win!

James Drake and Zack Gibson are the first ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions! I thought that was a brilliant match and the right team picked up the win.
