WWE Raw Live Results – January 14, 2019

04:05am

FINN BÁLOR picks up the win and is heading to the Royal Rumble to take on Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title!

He’d already competed in one match earlier tonight and he pulled it out the bag there too.

Cena took out Corbin with an AA, before Drew struck Cena with a Claymore. Finn managed to land a float-over DDT on Drew to send him out the ring before hitting the Coup de Grace on a downed Cena for the win.

Cena gave him an endorsement at the end, and the match that was originally meant to happen at the same event 12 months ago is taking place as a makeshift occurrence this time around.

That was the best episode of Raw in a very long time. Actually, the Otis segment makes it the best Raw of all time. Hope you all had a good evening!

03:39am

I have taken a moment to compose myself.

Up next, it’s the main event, as Baron Corbin, Finn Bálor, John Cena and Drew McIntyre sqaure off to determine Braun Strowman’s replacement in facing Lesnar at the Rumble for the Universal Title.

This is the first four-way on Raw since the Universal Title match that Kevin Owens won back in August 2016. It’s also Cena’s first TV/PPV main event since he faced Kane on Raw in March 2018.

03:28am

That was the best moment of my life.

First, Alexa unveiled the new Women’s Tag belts, which I think look excellent.

And then Paul Heyman talked about the four-way later and Brock’s Rumble opponent.

BUT.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OTIS DOZOVIC CAME OUT.

He makes me so happy. LOOK AT HIM. He was restrained by his pal Tucker and some backstage guys but I feel so happy right now.

03:21am

After Lashley wins the IC Title, the camera goes backstage where we see a member of the backstage team calling for Alexa as it’s time for A Moment of Bliss with Paul Heyman.

Alexa doesn’t answer though so this brainbox decides to walk into her locker room, where we see her not fully clothed.

New era, folks. Anyway, up next is the aforementioned Moment of Bliss with Paul Heyman.

03:16am

Interestingly when we come back from the break, Seth and Dean are actually working together on Lashley. A bit silly that really.

It doesn’t last long and they end up battering each other after they’ve taken out the ‘All Mighty’. Rollins looks to have it won with the Falcon Arrow on Dean but Rush breaks up the pin. Perfectly legal in a Triple Threat.

What followed was a sequence of nearfalls eventually resulting in a Doomsday… that the commentators absolutely stumbled over and I’m fairly certain attempted to describe it in Algerian at some point.

After clearing the ring of Seth, Lashley nailed Dean Ambrose with a Spear to become the NEW INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION.

I am very happy about this.

03:07am

Ambrose and Lashley started the match by double teaming Rollins until their temporary alignment fell apart and Rollins cleared them both.

Rush got into the ring for a brief exchange with Seth, which led to Rollins chasing Rush around the ring and into Lashley who decked him.

Lashley on top into the first break.

02:54am

Up next, Dean Ambrose defends the Intercontinental Title in a Triple Threat against Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley!

This is actually the sixth consecutive episode of Raw to feature a title match.

02:49am

Jinder attacks Finn before the match and we get the whole “you sure you can compete” thing with Finn saying yes he could.

Cole said it’s been about two years since Finn had a chance to win the Universal Title. Let’s just completely ignore his match against Reigns on the Raw after SummerSlam, shall we?

Jinder was on top for a large portion of the match until Finn launched a comeback and got a fairly decisive win at the end of it with the Coup de Grace. That takes his overall record against Jinder to 7-0.

Finn vs. Cena vs. McIntyre vs. Corbin later tonight. Winner faces Lesnar at the Rumble.

02:29am

The focus on this match was heavily on Nikki of course, because, you know, she’s crazy.

She hit a hanging swinging neckbreaker on Morgan to set up for an elbow drop from Bayley for the win.

Up next, Jinder takes on Finn with the winner in the Universal Title number one contender’s 4-way later.

02:15am

Jinder finds Vince backstage.

And calls him Vince before hurriedly correcting himself which I found quite funny.

Jinder is taking on Finn tonight… The winner is in the four-way later.

ALSO… Nikki Cross is here. She’s teaming with Bayley and Nattie taking on the Riott Squad.

02:06am

Cena reminds Vince of what happened a few years ago when the likes of Austin, Rock and Lesnar all left and Cena was the one that stepped up.

He says that it can be the same situation here and he can become a 17-time world champion… because he has RUTHLESS AGGRESSION.

And with that… out comes the man who confronted Cena last week, Drew McIntyre. McIntyre says that he is the one that has ruthless aggression and that Cena’s time is up and his time is now.

Oh God… next out is Baron Corbin who says him having a Universal Title match is what’s best for business.

And now it’s Finn Bálor’s turn, who reminds everyone he is a former Universal Champion. Vince and Finn flat out says Vince is too stubborn to believe in him so he will give him a reason. He starts a brawl with the others that ends with Drew Claymore-ing Finn and Cena, which makes Vince very excited.

Vinnie then makes a four-way for later tonight. Cena vs. Corbin vs. Drew vs. Finn – winner takes on Lesnar for the Universal Title at Royal Rumble.

01:55am

Vince McMahon heading to the ring now. Looks like he’s going to announce Braun’s replacement.

Hold on a minute, Vince has been cut off by John Cena! This is the first time John Cena and Vince have shared a ring since Nov 3 2014.

01:50am

During the match we get a split screen at Vince’s office with a bunch of jobbers and… EC3.

EC3 doesn’t say anything though. Which I found odd.

The Revival pick up the win in similar shaky fashion to how they lost last week. Gran Metalik had his foot on the rope but Wilder knocked it off before the ref could notice and he counted three.

01:43am

Natalya and Bayley are backstage arguing about their bezzie mates.

Natalya says Banks is arrogant, whereas Bayley says Ronda is arrogant.

The the Riott Squad turn up and laugh. It is almost laughable how WWE books women. Like a bunch of 13-year-old girls.

Oh. The Lucha House Party is here. Yay. Kalisto is in the Rumble.

Luchas vs. Revival. We’ve not seen this one before.

01:37am

I’m not a fan of the whole opponents teaming together two weeks ahead of their match gimmick, especially when their opponents happen to be Nia and Tamina…

Banks got the win by tapping out Tamina with the Bank Statement.

After the match, they do a post-match interview with Charly Caruso. Ronda says it’s an honor to face Banks and the best way she can show respect is to tap out Banks at the Rumble.

Banks took offense to this and got a bit sassy though and says she’s going to beat Ronda before storming off. Ronda chases her to says sorry, and Sasha continues to walk away.

01:21am

Quick stat via our mate Linus before this one gets underway.

This is the first time Sasha has wrestled a tag match without Bayley as her partner since June 4, 2018, when she teamed with Ember Moon and Alexa Bliss vs. the Riott Squad.

01:15am

We come back from commercial to see Braun hilariously trying to fix the door he ripped off back onto Vince’s limo.

Vince says the damage is going to cost him $100,000, to which Braun responds “this crap isn’t worth $100,000”, which prompts Vince to take Braun out of the Universal Title match at the Rumble.

And then Braun flipped the limo. Excellent stuff.

To reiterate, Braun is OUT of the Universal Title match at the Rumble.

Up next, we’ve got Rumble opponents Rousey and Banks taking on Nia Jax and Tamina.

01:11am

Braun says that Lesnar has always been scared of him and announces that he is all healed up and will take the Universal Title from Lesnar at the Rumble.

And then Baron Corbin comes onto the stage because of course he does. Braun starts a “you got fired” chant, before Corbin tells Braun that he can’t beat Lesnar.

Corbin says he plans to win the Rumble and main event ‘Mania, which prompts Braun to chase him through the backstage area, killing Sunil Singh on the way past.

Braun continues his chase when we spot Elias singing about Corbin running away, and he tells Braun where Corbin is… in the limo. Yes, the same limo we saw Vince come out of earlier.

Braun kicks the wing mirror off and smashes the window in with a lead pipe before opening the door to find Corbin. And then Vince comes into picture, shocked at what Braun just did to his poor limo.

Corey simply says “there’s going to be hell to pay” before we go to commercials at a really odd time. Really enjoyed this opening few minutes.

01:04am

Raw kicks off tonight with a shot of a limo and Mr. McMahon stepping out of it.

And then we cut to the live arena with Brock Lesnar’s Royal Rumble opponent Braun Strowman making his way to the ring.

This could get interesting.

The Intercontinental Championship is on the line tonight as feuds converge and Dean Ambrose defends against his nemesis Seth Rollins, and a guy Rollins has had beef with recently, Bobby Lashley.

Last week’s show opened with Lashley and Rollins brawling all over the arena, and ended with Lashley costing Rollins a Falls Count Anywhere IC Title match in the main event.

Honestly, I hope Bob wins it. Ambrose does nothing for me personally and Rollins seems to be set for bigger things with his eye on winning the Royal Rumble and challenging Lesnar for the Universal Title at WrestleMania.

Speaking of challenging Lesnar for the Universal Title, it looks like Braun Strowman – Lesnar’s Royal Rumble opponent – will be on the show tonight. Hopefully he’ll do something more interesting than the appalling segment last week.

Also announced is a tag team match pitting Rumble opponents Ronda Rousey and Sasha Banks as teammates against everyone’s favorite wrestlers Nia Jax and Tamina. I am almost certain Banks and Rousey will win and Riott Squad will attack them setting up a match next week, as is how the Raw women’s division tends to be booked.
