Drew McIntyre wins the Men's Royal Rumble Match
- Brock Lesnar is obviously number one and Elias is number two.
As Elias is singing his song Brock ran to him and attacked him. He threw Elias in the ring and hit him with his guitar and it looked like it sucked big time. He then eliminated Elias for the first elimination.
- Erick Rowan is number three
Rowan came to the ring with his cage and Brock eliminated him in like ten seconds. Brock posed until the next entrant.
- Robert Roode is number four
Roode took his time getting to the ring and when he got in Brock hit him with an F-5 and threw him out.
- John Morrison is number five
Morrison came down to the ring in slow motion. He dodged a few of Lesnar’s moves but Brock hit a big belly-to-belly throw to eliminate Morrison.
- Kofi Kingston is number six
Kofi was very over with this crowd as he lit Brock up with punches. Brock hit a german suplex to stop the flurry of offence. Kofi made it the distance to the next entrance.
- Rey Mysterio is number seven
They made a big deal of Rey and Kofi both having beef with Brock. Brock still dominated both of them and hit another couple suplexes until the next entrance.
- Big E is number eight
Now they’re getting somewhere as Big E, Kofi and Rey all teamed up to fight Brock. Kofi hit the Trouble in Paradise, Big E hit the Big Ending and Rey hit the 619 but before they could finish him, Brock eliminated all three of them. Go figure.
- Cesaro is number nine
Cesaro hit a series of uppercuts and Brock clotheslined him to the outside for the elimination.
- Shelton Benjamin is number ten
Shelton Benjamin is the godfather of Brock’s kid so they did their best to play up that they are friends. They hugged and made it look like they were going to make an alliance but Brock turned on him. Brock hit a suplex and eliminated him.
- Shinsuke Nakamura is number eleven
Nakamura hit a bunch of knees and kicks until Brock picked him up and threw him out.
- MVP is number twelve
MVP chased Paul Heyman around for a bit and then Brock grabbed him and threw him out.
- Keith Lee is number thirteen
Here we go. Keith Lee hit a big shoulder block and took Brock down. They hit a double clothesline as they waited for the next entrant.
- Braun Strowman is number fourteen
Brock got back in control here, hitting German suplexes on both Strowman and Lee. He then threw both out for the eliminations. Welp. No more Keith.
- Ricochet is number fifteen
Ricochet jumped in and got caught by Brock. He got thrown around but not eliminated until the next entrant.
- Drew McIntyre is number sixteen
Drew McIntyre did a staredown with Brock and Ricochet hit Lesnar low and McIntyre threw out Brock Lesnar. Drew then caught Ricochet and threw him out.
- The Miz is number seventeen
The Miz came in and immediately got hit with the Future Shock DDT. He then hit the Claymore and eliminated The Miz.
- AJ Styles is number eighteen
As they are guys who are about the same level of stars, this is where the ring started to fill up a bit. They went back and forth until the countdown started.
- Dolph Ziggler is number nineteen
Dolph fought with his former tag team partner McIntyre and Drew got the better of him. Drew threw Dolph all the way across the ring.
- Karl Anderson is number 20
Karl Anderson and AJ Styles teamed up to fight off Drew and Dolph. Not much happened here.
- Edge is number 21
As my favourite wrestler of all time, this is a big moment for me. Edge came out and speared everyone involved. He went face to face with AJ Styles and it looks like that is a match that is on the horizon.
- Baron Corbin is number 22
Corbin comes out and meanwhile Edge eliminated AJ Styles.
- Matt Riddle is number 23
Riddle came down and flipped off his flip flops. He threw knees at a number of guys and then Corbin eliminated Riddle from behind. Lame.
- Luke Gallows is number 24
Gallows and Anderson fought with Edge for eliminating their leader. Drew McIntyre threw out Baron Corbin.
- Randy Orton is number 25
Randy Orton and Edge teamed up to eliminate both Gallows and Anderson.
- Roman Reigns is number 26
Roman ran wild with his typical moveset and threw out Dolph Ziggler.
- Kevin Owens is number 27
Owens came down and hit a couple of Stunners on Roman Reigns and Randy Orton. Everyone is down for the next entrant.
- Aleister Black is number 28
Black hit a big moonsault on Owens, a knee on Edge and a Black Mass on McIntyre.
- Samoa Joe is number 29
Joe and Owens looked like they were going to fight but they were able to keep calm until the next entrant.
- Seth Rollins is number 30
Seth came out with Buddy Murphy and AoP. Owens and Joe left the ring to fight Seth’s crew. Rollins got the better of them and pulled Edge and Orton out of the ring and fought them on the outside. Rollins then eliminated Black, Owens and Joe thanks to the help of AoP and Murphy.
AoP and Murphy then brawled to the back with Owens and Joe leaving Rollins alone to fight off the rest of the people. Rollins tried to align himself with Roman but Roman hit the Superman Punch. Edge and Orton hit a powerslam on Rollins before Drew threw Rollins over the top for the elimination. Roman, Drew, Edge and Orton are the final four.
Orton hit an RKO on Drew and he and Edge hit a double RKO. Orton then tried to stab Edge in the back but Edge turned around and caught him in the act. Edge then turned on Orton and threw him out. Edge and Roman went back and forth and Edge hit him with a Spear. Edge and Roman brawled on the apron and Roman hit Edge’s hands causing him to fall. It came down to Roman and Drew and in the end, Drew hit a Claymore and threw Roman out to win the match.
WWE Raw Women's Championship Match - Becky Lynch (c) def. Asuka
This match really got going when Becky Lynch suplexed Asuka off the apron to the floor. She then did her exploder suplex into the barricade and hit a legdrop in the ring. Becky fought to hit another exploder suplex and then Asuka hit a hip attack on the apron. They continued to fight on the apron before Asuka got tied up in the ropes. Becky hit a Uranage off the second rope for a nearfall.
Asuka hit a series of kicks and Becky sold getting knocked out. The referee checked on Becky and the crowd started to turn on the match a bit because the referee wasn’t calling off the match and wasn’t letting Asuka fight. Not a great moment but they were quick to move on. Eventually, Asuka pushed Becky into the referee and tried to spray mist in her face but Becky kicked Asuka causing her to spit out the mist. Becky then locked in the Disarmer for the win.
This was a very good match that could have been that much better if they had not done the match stoppage tease. Fans don’t like matches being stopped for no reason and this felt like it was being stopped for no reason. Regardless, the match was good and completed the story that was started one year ago.
WWE Universal Championship Strap Match - Bray Wyatt (c) def. Daniel Bryan
Okay. Positives for this were that there was no stupid red light and they did not do the stupid four corners rules.
The first ten minutes of this match were just Bray Wyatt hitting Daniel Bryan with the strap. After Bryan had been sufficiently whipped he took control with a big dive to the outside. Bryan kicked Wyatt low three times and hit a DDT on the announce table. He hit the Yes kicks and the Knee Plus and got a nearfall. Bryan went to hit another knee but Wyatt hit a flying Sister Abigail for a nearfall. That would have been a good finish.
Bryan and Wyatt both locked in submission holds and fought and fought. Bryan locked in the LeBell Lock and wrapped the strap around Wyatt’s head. Wyatt rolled back and beat Bryan down before the finish which saw Bryan hit Wyatt with the strap a few times and Wyatt locked in the Mandible Claw and pinned Bryan.
It was a decent enough match once we got beyond the initial strapping. The finish was a tad anticlimactic but it told a good story of the Fiend just being too much for Bryan to handle.
WWE SmackDown Women's Championship Match - Bayley (c) def. Lacey Evans
This match was in a very difficult position coming right after the Royal Rumble match. The fans were not in the mood for all this.
This match was not any good either. Bayley and Lacey Evans mostly just grappled through this one and Bayley got in the face of Lacey’s daughter before sending Lacey back into the ring. Lacey went for a moonsault but Bayley got her legs up and pinned her. Anticlimactic finish to a bad match.
The WWE Universal Championship Match is next and its a coin toss whether it will be any better than this.
Baron Corbin interview
Baron Corbin says that Roman Reigns made a mockery of their match by having his henchmen, The Usos help him. Tonight in the Royal Rumble Roman won’t be able to hide behind the Usos and Corbin will through him over the top rope.
I guess both are officially in the Royal Rumble match now.
Charlotte Flair wins the Women's Royal Rumble Match
- Alexa Bliss is number one and she is followed by Biance Belair at number two. Well he have our first NXT star to make an appearance tonight.
They did some brawling before Bianca did a standing moonsault to keep Bliss down for number three.
- Might Molly is number three for your first returning star.
Molly hit some of her old moves and did a high cross on both Bliss and Belair before trying to eliminate Belair.
- Nikki Cross is number four
Cross and Bliss teamed up only for Belair and Molly to team up immediately after. Belair hit a Kiss of Death on Cross and a Spear to boot. All four are down for number five.

LeRae hit a big moonsault before Bianca Belair eliminated Mighty Molly. Mandy Rose almost got eliminated by she landed on Otis who let her step on him to get back in the ring.

Sonya and Mandy Rose teamed up to try to eliminate Candice LeRae. Sonya went head to head with Mercedes Martinez and she and Mandy hit a High Low and eliminated her.

Kairi hit a double spear on Sonya and Mandy before running wild on the rest of the field. She hit her Elbow Drop on LeRae as number twelve is revealed.
- Mia Yim is number twelve
Nikki Cross got eliminated by Bianca Belair when she hit her with Alexa Bliss. Mandy Rose was thrown into the arms of Otis and Sonya was thrown onto both of them, eliminating everyone involved.
- Dana Brooke is number thirteen
The ring got emptied out a lot there. Dana Brooke did a senton as soon as she hit the ring and Belair eliminated Candice LeRae. Alexa Bliss was on the top rope with Kairi Sane and Kairi got knocked to the outside.
- Tamina is number fourteen
Tamina ran into the ring and slipped around before brawling with Belair. Belair then immediately eliminated Tamina.
- Dakota Kai is number fifteen
Alexa Bliss managed to throw Mia Yim to the outside.
- Chelsea Greene is number sixteen
Chelsea Greene ran to the ring and immediately eliminated Dakota Kai. Greene then got eliminated and then Brooke got eliminated by Bliss. Bliss and Belair were the only two left and they did a tug of war on the apron using Belair’s hair. Belair threw Bliss into the post and eliminated her.
- Charlotte Flair is number seventeen
Charlotte and Belair just wrestled back and forth for a while. It was all good stuff but there wasn’t much going on with only two of them in the match.
- Naomi is number eighteen
Naomi has a new look with an afro. Belair and Charlotte teamed up to suplex Naomi.
- Beth Phoenix is number nineteen
Beth came down looking very mad. Why? No idea. She fought with Belair on one side and Charlotte paired off with Naomi.
- Toni Storm is number twenty
Charlotte eliminated Bianca Belair to a chorus of boos and woos.
- Kelly Kelly is number 21
Kelly Kelly came in and did nothing for a bit. She did a Lou Thesz press on Naomi.
- Sarah Logan is number 22
Sarah Logan went right for Charlotte and Charlotte eliminated her. Kelly Kelly then went after Charlotte and Charlotte eliminated her too.
- Natalya is number 23
She and Beth Phoenix hit a double powerbomb on Charlotte and everyone else just did your typical corner fighting.
- Xia Li is number 24
- Zelina Vega is number 25
Natalya and Beth Phoenix are trying to throw out Charlotte. Beth Phoenix’s head is bleeding heavily.
- Shotzi Blackheart is number 26
Naomi got thrown to the outside and she grabbed onto the barricade. It was a struggle but she managed to pull herself up and walked over to the announce table.
- Carmella is number 27
Most of the emphasis was put on Naomi walking back and forth from the announce tables looking for places to jump back to the ring.
- Tegan Nox is number 28
Beth Phoenix cleared the ring and hit a series of Glam Slams as number 29 is revealed.
- Santina Marella is number 29
Santina Marella came down to the ring and tried to be friends with Beth Phoenix and Natalya and decided to eliminate herself (himself?) instead.
- Shayna Baszler is number 30
Shayna Baszler is the final entrant. She came down and threw Charlotte into the ring steps. She then got in the ring and eliminated Xia Li, Tegan Nox, Carmella, Naomi, Toni Storm and Shotzi Blackheart. Natalya and Beth Phoenix hit the Hart Attack on Shayna before Phoenix threw out Natalya.
It came down to Baszler, Phoenix and Charlotte. Baszler threw out Phoenix and Charlotte skinned the cat and pulled out Baszler to win the Royal Rumble match. The fans are not happy about this one.
Falls Count Anywhere Match - Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin
Roman went after the guys carrying Corbin’s throne. This was nothing but brawling for the first stretch before Corbin hit a Deep Six for a nearfall. They eventually did some crowd brawling where the best part was the cameraman trying to get around the fans. They found their way back to ringside and Corbin Chokeslammed Reigns through the announce table for a nearfall.
They proceeded to do even more crowd brawling and they made their way over to the foreign announce tables. Roman hit a pair of Samoan Drops through a pair of tables for a pair of nearfalls. They climbed up to a technical area and Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler attacked Roman. They beat him down until the Usos made the save. The two tag teams brawled through the crowd and Roode set up a guardrail on two crates only for one of the Usos to hit a massive dive out of the stands.
Corbin hit a back suplex on the Uso on the guardrail before Roman hit a Superman Punch to get momentum again. Roman threw Corbin into a porta-potty and tipped it over. High brow entertainment. Corbin and Reigns ended up on the dugout and Corbin hit him with a pair of chair shots. Roman fought back and hit a Superman Punch and a Spear for the win on top of the dugout.
This felt really long but it was a lot more fun than most Falls Count Anywhere matches. They actually spent the majority of the match outside of the ring and you only get so many chances to win a match on a dugout so good for them for capitalizing on that.
Kofi Kingston interview
Kofi Kingston said that this was about the time last year that KofiMania started. He said wins and losses don’t matter at this point because you can win the Royal Rumble and go on to WrestleMania. When asked about what happens if he and Big E make it to the final two he said that if that happens then the New Day wins. If one of them wins they all win.
Weird that they did not bring up Brock Lesnar at length here given that he won the WWE title from Kofi. Oh well.
Charlotte said that she has thought about the Royal Rumble every day since last year. She said that she does not see people she sees numbers and when they look at her they will see the Queen.
Nothing much to it.
WWE United States Championship Match - Andrade (c) def. Humberto Carrillo
The match started with some exciting lucha spots but before long Andrade grounded Carrillo and worked him over with an armbar.
Everything they did here was executed very well but for a match with two lucha libre stars, this was extremely slow. There was nothing particularly exciting happening because Carrillo never got a long stretch of offence in. This was really all Andrade and after some back and forth roll up attempts Andrade was able to hold Carrillo down for the three.
Not much to it and I have no idea where you go with Humbero Carrillo now. He lost a lot before this and he lost again here.
Sheamus def. Shorty G
There was a lot of grappling in this match, as is to be expected from a Shorty G match. Gable worked over Sheamus’ leg when he got the chance but a large portion of this match was Sheamus being the heel and beating down Gable. Gable showed off a number of cool moves and counters as he was able to hit his Chaos Theory German Suplex, a Crucifix Bomb, and a nifty moonsault.
In the end, Sheamus managed to hit the Brogue Kick to get the pin. This was longer than your average pre-show match and it was pretty decent but it was hard not to know who was going to win this one.
Lots of Jibber Jabber
For the sack of an update, we are 30 minutes into the show and there has been nothing but talk. No matches yet, the only announcements have been that the WWE United States Championship match and Sheamus vs. Shorty G will be on the kickoff show.
Hopefully some action can start soon for all our sakes.
Welcome to our live coverage of the 2020 Royal Rumble! It has not been revealed what will be on the pre-show so we will all find out together when the show kicks off at the top of the hour. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk for all the Royal Rumble developments!
