NXT UK TV Tapings – Live Spoilers

NXT UK TV Tapings – Live Spoilers

Hot off the heels of a highly praised NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool event last night, the next set of TV tapings for NXT UK is being recorded tonight, and we’ll have live ongoing spoiler coverage coming your way.

Last night saw the crowning of the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions, a surprise appearance from Finn Bálor, Toni Storm overcome Rhea Ripley for the Women’s Title, and the on-screen debut of the ‘Austrian Ringgeneral’ WALTER, which I, like you, am still marking out for.

With fallout from all that and more on its way, make sure you refresh this page from 6pm GMT onward for live updates as and when they occur for the next few weeks of NXT UK.

  • The evening is kicking off with Flash Morgan Webster taking on Luke Menzies. Menzies is the former rugby player who appeared in the crowd at TakeOver last night.
  • Luke Menzies def. Flash Morgan Webster with a move similar Pete Dunne’s Bitter End. The crowd weren’t particularly into it. That was the dark match of the evening.
  • The tapings proper kick off with UK Champion Pete Dunne coming to the ring. He talks about his retention over Joe Coffey at TakeOver until Gallus come out, who are mocked by the crowd for Coffey tapping, but they say they will win the war. This prompts WALTER to come out too, with Dunne and WALTER laying waste to Gallus and doing a staredown. Dunne and WALTER were both over big with the crowd.
  • Nina Samuels def. Lana Austin. Samuels picks up the win in an extended squash match. Austin was the more over of the two with the crowd not caring about Nina at all.
  • Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan def. Tyson T-Bone & Saxon Huxley. This was a fun tag match that the crowd enjoyed and went a perfect length. Williams looked smooth and flew well. Amir picked up the win with a Swanton from the top.
  • Eddie Dennis def. Jamie Ahmed in a squash match. Dennis didn’t look great and there was nothing to it.
  • Up next is Travis Banks vs. Jordan Devlin in the match that was meant to happen at TakeOver. Devlin attacked Banks last night so the Kiwi couldn’t compete but he was replaced by Finn Bálor.
  • Travis Banks vs. Jordan Devlin ends in a draw. The match started hot with Banks battering Devlin to avenge the TakeOver assault, with dives and a brawl at ringside. Devlin took over and did an awesome Spanish Fly off the apron. The bout had some excellent sequences… but finished with a double countout. The crowd rightfully voiced their displeasure by chanting “bulls***”.
  • Dave Mastiff def. Primate. Mastiff won a surprisingly competitive match with the Cannonball. Primate had a custom entrance video and tron so looks likely to sign soon.
  • Inaugural NXT Tag Team Champions James Drake and Zack Gibson come out next. The usual Gibson promo but they called themselves “Grizzled Young Veterans” which was their name in PROGRESS. Assistant GM Sid Scala came out and promised them challenges “soon”.
  • WALTER def. Jack Starz. WALTER picks up the win in a short in-ring debut. He killed Starz with just one chop, and a Powerbomb got him the win.
  • Jinny def. Kasey Owens in yet another extended squash match. This was Owens’ NXT UK debut.
  • Moustache Mountain def. Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner in a good TV match.
  • Ligero def. Mark Andrews. A C4L seals the upset win for Ligero. The crowd seems a bit tired and didn’t really get into the match.
  • Xia Brookside def. Candy Floss. Another extended squash match. The crowd continuing to grow tired.
  • Rhea Ripley came out and attacked them both after the match. New NXT Women’s Champion Toni Storm came out for the save but she got laid out too.
  • Joseph Conners def. Wild Boar Mike Hitchman. Conners got the win with the Don’t Look Down in a slow match. Crowd almost completely dead at this point – you could hear a pin drop during this one.
  • Joe Coffey def. Ashton Smith.
  • WALTER def. Mark Coffey. Decent match but far from what WALTER is capable of. There weren’t many chops again and it was the Powerbomb that ended it once more.

And that wraps us up for the night! Thanks for following along with our live spoiler coverage this evening. An in-ring debut for WALTER but no matches for either Pete Dunne or Toni Storm.
