Long Absent AEW Star Return Update

An update has emerged on a long absent AEW star following serious health issues in the Fall last year.

In September 2024, AEW star Killswitch (Luchasaurus) was hospitalised with double pneumonia and said to just be days away from permanent lung damage.

Given the severity of the situation the 40-year-old’s in-ring future was unclear for the remainder of 2024 and beginning of 2025, however, a backstage update three weeks ago revealed that Killswitch was “close” to a return.

Now, a new report from Fightful Select has shared an update on Killswitch’s return plans.

According to the report Killswitch was backstage at Sunday’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view, with discussions behind had regarding him being used on the show.

There was also rumors of an “alternate ending” to Revolution that never saw the light of day.

While these plans existing couldn’t be confirmed, one source indicated to Fightful that Killswitch may have been planned to be involved in that.

When Fightful asked AEW about Killswitch potentially playing a role in this alternate ending to Revolution “things went very quiet”.

AEW Revolution was main evented by the AEW World Championship match between Jon Moxley and Cope, a match that turned into a three-way by the end due to Christian Cage chasing in his guaranteed AEW World Title opportunity that he earned at All In London 2024.

Despite Christian’s late interjection Moxley retained his title by choking Christian out, extending his fourth reign as AEW World Champion.

Killswitch’s last match in AEW came during the previously mentioned Casino Gauntlet match at All In London 2024 in August.
