Lars Sullivan made his return to WWE programming this week and has since been drafted to SmackDown. While his immediate future remains unclear, we do know what the long-term plans are for him.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez were discussing the plans for Sullivan when Meltzer revealed the plan is to have him face Braun Strowman next year. While plans can and often do change, this appears to be the current plan. Here is the quote:
Meltzer: “Well you knew that Lars Sullivan’s feud is not gonna be with Miz and Morrison. They’re just there to get to Strowman. He’s gonna go and I wonder who he’s gonna go up against. The Jeff Hardy thing is going to be blown off on Friday.”
Alvarez: “Well, it’s not going to be The Miz.”
Meltzer: “They weren’t gonna waste-they weren’t gonna do that. No one would buy that. They’d have to do a 20-second match. So who do they got? They need to send Dabba-Kato over.”
Alvarez: “Dude, he’s just gonna squash people for a while. I don’t think they’ve decided on an opponent yet.”
Meltzer: “But there’s got to be a destination.”
Alvarez: “Dave are you serious? You think they’ve got a destination?”
Meltzer: “I mean, it’s Strowman in a year, but not yet. They’re on different sides.”
Alvarez: “…If you think there’s a direction for Lars Sullivan-”
Meltzer: “Yeah, there is, Braun Strowman in a year.”
Alvarez: “In a year?!”
Meltzer: “Yeah, I already know that! I told you that last week.”
Alvarez: “Dave, I bet you fifty bucks that never happens.”
Meltzer: “Well, they’ll probably forget but there is a direction. There’s always a direction it’s just Vince wakes up and changes the direction.”
With Sullivan and Strowman on separate brands for the moment, something would need to be done for the two to face each other.
Since returning on Friday a series of new issues surrounding Sullivan have also been brought to light. It was reported over the weekend that Sullivan had allegedly been sending messages sexually harassing a woman on Instagram, messages that WWE are reportedly aware of.
