WWE/AEW
The reunion match for the Lucha Brothers in their first time teaming together since signing with WWE earlier this year has been confirmed.
Last night’s AAA Alianzas event that streamed live on the WWE YouTube channel went off the air with some big news as brothers Penta and Rey Fenix appeared together.
Having won tag team championships together in companies like AEW, TNA, MLW, AAA and ROH in the past, this was their first time together on a WWE show.
WWE originally intended to bring them in as a tag team, but due to their AEW contracts being extended due to injury time and expiring at different times, Penta ended up debuting in January while Fenix was still stuck under AEW contract, and then Fenix joined WWE separately in April.
At AAA Alianzas last night, Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano won the main event tag team match against Dragon Lee and El Hijo Del Vikingo after Vikingo attacked and walked out on his own partner Lee.
As Mysterio was cutting a promo in the ring afterwards, the Lucha Brothers appeared on the screen to challenge Mysterio and Americano to a match at AAA Guerra de Titanes on December 20.
In a new video released by AAA, Mysterio is shown accepting the challenge and making the match official, saying:
“Lucha Brothers. It looks like we’ll see you in Guadalajara. December 20th.
“The AAA Mega Champion – The King of the Luchadores – will see you there.”
