It was reported that Lucha Underground’s King Cuerno, along with Joey Ryan, Ivelisse Valez and Kobra Moon, has been released from the company.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Cuerno, who has wrestled in Impact as El Hijo del Fantasma, was offered a spot in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic back in 2016. However, his commitments to AAA and the aforementioned Lucha Underground meant he was forced to decline.
It should be noted however that it has yet to be reported if WWE are once again interested in working with King Cuerno. However, now he is a free agent WWE will surely be interested in bringing him in. This is especially likely given the fact that the company has been snapping up a lot of talent from the independent scene in recent weeks, including Shane Strickland and Garza Jr most recently.
With regards to Ivelisse joining WWE, Dave Meltzer said that she has had problems with company officials and this is why she is not working there now. Ivelisse worked for WWE between 2011-12 as a developmental talent, even appearing in the 2011 Tough Enough season as Sofia Cortez alongside the likes of Velveteen Dream, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. Meltzer noted that there was no word on if WWE were now interested again.
