WWE star Luke Harper returned to NXT last night in Buffalo, New York and challenged NXT North American Champion Ricochet for the title.
Luke Harper is one half of the Bludgeon Brothers tag team alongside his longtime partner Erick Rowan. Together they managed to win the SmackDown Tag Team championships at WrestleMania 34 by defeating the New Day and the Usos in a triple threat match. Harper and Rowan would lose the titles to the New Day in a No-Disqualification match on SmackDown last month.
It was revealed that Rowan had suffered a torn bicep and would be out of action indefinitely. With Rowan out of action, Luke Harper has had little to do on SmackDown as of late. This lead to his surprise return to NXT to challenge for Ricochet’s NXT North American Championship where he was unsuccessful.
Luke Harper debuted for NXT in 2012 as the first member of Bray Wyatt’s Wyatt Family stable. Harper would form his tag team with Erick Rowan in NXT and they would capture the NXT Tag Team Championships by defeating Neville and Bo Dallas in May 2013. Luke Harper’s time in NXT would come to an end when the Wyatt Family was called up to the main roster on July 8, 2013.
