With the excellent Mauro Ranallo expected to take his seat as lead announcer of the Mae Young Classic on Thursday, speculation has been rife about who his broadcast partner will be. Now, that mystery could be solved as WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix is rumored to join him to call the second annual tournament.
Announcing that she will be at Evolution, Phoenix was a hit with fans as announcer for WWE Mixed Match Challenge earlier this year. It makes sense that a female would partner Mauro considering the subject of the show. She would follow in the footsteps of Lita, who called last year’s inaugural tourney.
The second annual Mae Young Classic record on Thursday and Friday and will be available on the WWE Network throughout August and September. The finals will take place at WWE Evolution on October 28.
WrestleTalk would like to hear your views on the possibility of Beth Phoenix being the second broadcaster at this year’s tournament. Would you have preferred someone else? Who is your favorite to win the whole thing? You can have your say on Twitter and Discord today.
