Main Roster WWE Star Facing Io Shirai On NXT

It looks like main roster WWE star is set to face NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai on this coming Wednesday’s episode of NXT.

This Wednesday and the following Wednesday, NXT will be branded as the ‘Great American Bash’, clearly an attempt to counter AEW’s Fyter Fest which also runs across those two weeks.

It looks like Women’s Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks is setting up to face Shirai on the June 1 edition, as Banks and Bayley made the challenge on Twitter, as you can see below:

This all actually started a couple of weeks ago, as after Banks and Bayley retained their titles against Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart, they started gloating about how they made NXT and own the women’s division, which Shirai didn’t appreciate and she came out to make that apparent.

Banks is getting in on the action across all three brands at the minute as she’s also going to be challenging Raw Women’s Champion Asuka at Extreme Rules. WWE has confirmed Shirai vs Banks will be non-title.
