For the past few years, when planning the main event for WrestleMania, it would simply be a case of Roman Reigns vs. ???
Now though, it’s a far more interesting decision.
Following Roman’s tragic announcement that he is once again battling Leukaemia and can therefore not compete for an indefinite amount of time, it is far less clear who will be ending the show.
But surely it will be whoever is the Universal Champion at the time? Well, maybe not.
In the past two years, we have already seen the first ever women’s Royal Rumble, the first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match, the first ever women’s Money in the Bank match, and the first ever all-women’s PPV.
So, why not the first ever women’s WrestleMania main event?
Now that Ronda Rousey has cemented herself as one of the biggest names in the company, it seems more and more likely that WWE will make the move to have her main event their biggest show of the year.
For a long time, a Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair match has been rumoured, and although Charlotte’s momentum has taken a hit of late, it would still be arguably the best match main roster women could put on.
They could undoubtedly do a very good job of it as well. With Ronda’s constant improvement and Charlotte’s presence, there’s no question it will be a better match than both the Mania 33 and 34 main events.
