AEW
UPDATE: Find out what Tony Khan announced on AEW Dynamite at this link.
Ahead of tonight’s AEW Dynamite show, most of the talk is not regarding tonight’s card, or even this Sunday’s Double or Nothing event.
On the show, Tony Khan is set to announce the location of the first episode of AEW Collision, which will take place on June 17.
The show was originally slated to be held in the United Center in Chicago, and feature the return of CM Punk to the company for the first time since the All Out media scrum incident.
Since then, the relationship between Punk and AEW once again hit a snag, reportedly over the status of Ace Steel in the company, which led to the announcement of the show’s location being held off a week later than the rest of Collision’s dates.
AEW reportedly had a backup location in place should Punk not be appearing on the show, which some have reported would have been Daily’s Place, the spiritual home of AEW.
However, it seems that may now be all a moot point, as Dave Meltzer took to Twitter, noting that the current belief is that Punk will in fact return to AEW on the debut episode of Collision on June 17.
He also notes that the show will be taking place in Chicago, which, unless things change, will be announced on tonight’s episode of Dynamite, though it’s still unknown how the announcement of Punk’s return to the company will be handled.
To dispel any doubt, PWInsider has reported the same thing as Meltzer on PWInsider Elite.
The card for the AEW Double Or Nothing event on Sunday, May 28 is as follows:
AEW World Championship – MJF (c) vs. Darby Allin vs. Jack Perry vs. Sammy Guevara
TNT Championship Ladder Match – Wardlow (c) vs. Christian Cage
AEW Women’s World Championship – Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Toni Storm
AEW World Tag Team Championship (Special Guest Referee Mark Briscoe) – FTR (c) vs. Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett
Anarchy in the Arena – Adam Page, Kenny Omega & Young Bucks vs. Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta
Unsanctioned Match – Adam Cole vs. Chris Jericho
Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn & Ethan Page vs. Isiah Kassidy, Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy
International Championship Blackjack Battle Royal – Orange Cassidy (c) vs. 20 TBA
TBS Championship – Jade Cargill (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie
The belief is that CM Punk will debut on 6/17 at the first Collision show in Chicago and that the issues have been settled. Unless things change, Chicago will be announced tonight. How the announcement of Punk's return will be handled is unknown.
