A major title match is set for next week’s edition of Impact Wrestling. In his second defense since winning the title at the Bound For Glory pay per view, Rich Swann will defend the Impact World Championship against Ken Shamrock.
This comes after an altercation that took place on tonight’s show. After Swann had competed in the Rascalz farewell match, he was attacked backstage by Shamrock and Sami Callihan. This will be the first time Shamrock and Swann have met in the ring.
Swann won the Impact World Championship at Bound For Glory from Eric Young back in October. Since then, he has successfully defended the title against Sami Callihan at last weekend’s Turning Point pay per view.
Shamrock is, of course, recognized as the first world champion in the promotion’s history. Winning the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship on the promotion’s first show, Shamrock became their first champion, reigning for 49 days before losing the title to Ron (R-Truth) Killings. If Shamrock is able to win next week, this will be the first time he has won the title since 2002.
We will keep you updated.
