Cody Rhodes’ quest to ‘finish the story’ at WrestleMania 39 this year didn’t quite have the ending that we were all hoping for, as Roman Reigns managed to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of the show.
Despite Cody’s loss, he has continued to chase the championship that has eluded his family, with him going through adversity to get a rematch with Reigns.
Fans have been speculating about Cody and Roman having their rematch down the line, potentially at SummerSlam in Detroit in August, but we may have to wait even longer than that.
Per WrestleVotes via GiveMeSport, the big rematch between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes is ‘on the table’ to main event WrestleMania 40 next year in Philadelphia.
They said:
I can say this. The rematch that’s at the forefront of everybody’s minds, Cody vs Roman, is very much on the table to main event in Philadelphia next year.
Cody is set to face off against Brock Lesnar at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico next weekend.
Roman is set to reach 1000 days as the Universal Champion in WWE on May 27, the same day as WWE’s Night of Champions premium live event in Saudi Arabia, where the first new World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned.
