It seems another name may be set to depart from the NWA. A number of their stars have begun to take work elsewhere since the start of the pandemic and now, James Storm may need to be added to the list.
Fightful Select (subscription required) are currently reporting that Storm’s NWA contract has expired. According to the report, Storm’s contract quietly expired back on February 1, making him a free agent.
At the time of the pandemic starting, Storm was half of the reigning NWA World Tag Team Champions alongside Eli Drake. Nothing has been said about whether Storm will continue with the promotion or not and what role the titles would have in this decision. Considering they won the titles on January 24 and his contract expired on February 1, one would think a plan would have been in place for him to stay. However, there is no telling if the pandemic changed any of that.
Storm had also been the NWA National Champion, defeating Colt Cabana to win the title in June 2019. He then lost the title back to Cabana in October 2019.
Other NWA stars to recently leave the promotion have included Eddie Kingston and Ricky Starks who have made their way to AEW and Melina who has joined WWE as reported earlier today.
