There has already been a major change for Rhea Ripley and WWE’s Judgment Day faction at SummerSlam tonight.
Tonight’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 is officially underway in Cleveland, Ohio as Rhea Ripley took on Liv Morgan to open the event.
Being accompanied by ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio, Rhea Ripley arrived after previously reuniting with Mysterio and seemingly forgiving him for ‘messing around’ with Morgan while Ripley was injured.
However, in the end, Rhea would not end up leaving with Mysterio as he would be the one who cost her the title.
When Rhea was about to swing a chair at Liv, Dom grabbed it and stopped her under the guise of saying she couldn’t win the title that way – seemingly with good intentions, but we soon found out that wasn’t the case.
When he went around the other side of the ring to distract the referee after tossing the chair back into the ring, Liv Morgan was able to hit a second Ob-Livion finisher on Rhea Ripley to retain her title.
In the end, Mysterio confirmed that he had chosen Morgan over Ripley, planting a big kiss on the champ on their way away from the ring.
Liv Morgan would leave SummerSlam 2024 having seemingly completing the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour, taking everything from Rhea Ripley.
After the match, even the status of Judgment Day was questionable as Damian Priest was clearly distracted from his upcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against GUNTHER.
Demanding to know where Dominik was, he also accused the other members of having been aware of the depth of Dominik’s betrayal.
In the segment, Balor would not mirror Priest’s rage but would deny having previous knowledge that Dominik was in full cahoots with Liv Morgan.
Also a new feature in the match, the introduction of the ‘referee cam’ in place on referee Eddie Orengo’s ear, giving a unique new perspective on the events.
