Just days after Santos Escobar became the Undisputed NXT Cruiserweight Champion, he has lost his title.
Escobar had promised an open challenge for this week’s episode of NXT, an open challenge that was answered by Kushida. The two had a competitive match with Kushida ultimately getting the win.
This marks the first title win by Kushida since joining WWE over two years ago.
Escobar had won unified the two NXT Cruiserweight Championships by defeating Jordan Devlin in a ladder match at NXT Takeover Stand and Deliver. He had held the interim title since June 3, 2020, when he won it by defeating Drake Maverick.
