The NXT Takeover event the night before a WWE pay-per-view are often so good that they overshadow their main roster counterparts. With that being said, another major championship match has been announced for NXT Takeover: New York that is sure to not only steal the show, but potentially be the match of the weekend.
NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne will have held the title for nearly 700 days by April 5th, successfully defending the title against the likes of Zack Gibson, Joe Coffey, and British Strong Style teammate Tyler Bate. However, the ‘Bruiserweight’ will face his toughest challenge yet when he takes on WALTER at NXT Takeover: New York.

The announcement was made on the NXT UK show this evening, with Pete Dunne seemingly wanting his chest caved in by requesting the match with the big Austrian.
This will be WALTER’s first attempt at capturing the NXT UK Championship, and it appears that he might be successful, with Pete Dunne set for greener pastures on NXT’s main US brand. Whilst the outcome of the match is uncertain, what is undeniable is that this bout will be nothing short of sensational, and eclipse anything else that WWE or NXT put on that weekend.
