Major Update On Potential CM Punk AEW Return AEW

UPDATE: For CM Punk’s latest tease of an AEW return, click here.

CM Punk has not appeared for All Elite Wrestling since the now infamous All Out media scrum, where he was involved in a backstage altercation with the Elite.

Since then, Punk has reportedly been open to a return to the company, with Dax Harwood noting recently that Punk misses wrestling after reading Steve Kiern’s book.

In a major update from Fightful Select (subscription required), Punk has communicated to AEW that he is willing to return to the company.

The report notes that Punk has laid out numerous potential scenarios for a return, which included willingness to work with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks.

However, Fightful notes that as of a few months ago, Omega and the Bucks didn’t seem keen on that, for the obvious reasons, though it isn’t known if things have changed as AEW has progressed on landing new deals with them.

Punk has reportedly also expressed willingness to return to work for AEW and keep completely separate from the Elite along the way, with some AEW talent of the belief that the rumoured upcoming Saturday AEW show could be a way to help facilitate that with some separation to the AEW roster, but that is not something that AEW higher ups have confirmed.

In addition, Fightful was also told that Punk has been open to working elsewhere, though it was not specified if that means other auspices of AEW, such as Ring of Honor, or the likes of NJPW and WWE.

Recently, Dax Harwood has been pushing the idea of a potential trios match between Punk and FTR against the Elite for the All In event at Wembley Stadium, but Fightful has not heard of any specific progression on that front.
