Major WWE Hall Of Fame Spoiler

Major WWE Hall Of Fame Spoiler

Based on local advertisements in the New York area, it appears that popular Attitude Era faction D-Generation X will be inducted into the 2019 Hall Of Fame as a unit.

A video apparently aired last night that promoted the group’s induction at the Brooklyn event on April 5, which seemed to imply that the entire group (Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, X-Pac and Chyna) would enter the hall.

Here is the video (note: we cannot confirm its authenticity but it does appear to be genuine):

The inclusion of DX in this form would be interesting for a variety of reasons:

  • It would mark the long-overdue induction of Chyna, who was a pivotal figure in DX and a major star during the Attitude Era, and a trailblazer as the first woman to capture a men’s singles title when she won the Intercontinental Title. She also competed in the Royal Rumble and King Of The Ring tournament (both also firsts). WWE have shied away from inducting her due to her post-wrestling career as a porn star and, let’s face it, because she used to date Triple H and it ended badly so they did not want any unpleasant scenes between them. Now that Chyna has sadly passed away this is no longer a consideration.
  • It would make Shawn Michaels only the second two-time Hall Of Famer in WWE after Ric Flair. Although, if reports are accurate that The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart and Jimmy Hart) are going in as a unit then Shawn’s great rival Bret Hart would also be a two-time inductee. As would Jimmy Hart.

  • Triple H would enter for the first time. As WWE COO that would be interesting, as Hunter has been a key figure in making deals for the HOF over the years. Essentially, he would be choosing to induct himself! It is something Vince McMahon has always refused to do for himself while he is alive. Hunter definitely deserves to go in though, we are not questioning that.
  • Billy Gunn is an agent/producer for All Elite Wrestling, which makes his potential induction very interesting indeed. Gunn had a long and successful career in WWE and is definitely worthy of inclusion (based on WWE’s qualifying criteria) but to have him there may suggest WWE are making a play for him to return. Not as a wrestler, but as a producer. It was a role he had previously but was fired for using performance enhancing drugs in a bodybuilding competition. Could Gunn be the first jump from AEW to WWE?

  • Road Dogg is a WWE writer/producer and often the focal point of fan ire when something does not go their way on SmackDown. He does not help himself when he goes on Twitter and vehemently defends some of WWE’s baffling booking, painting a target on his own back. Again though, for his contributions for WWE a place in the HOF is overdue.
  • X-Pac has been in the HOF discussions for years. The rest of the Kliq (Hunter aside) are all in, and his exclusion always seemed unfair. He was a great performer as 1-2-3 Kid, he was a top star during the Attitude Era and is well-liked by those who know him.
