Tonight at Hell in a Cell, we are going to see Roman Reigns defend the Universal Championship against Jey Uso, and Drew McIntyre put his WWE Championship on the line against Randy Orton. Both matches will be inside the cage.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre are expected to go one-on-one at Survivor Series next month, implying both are going to retain their titles at tonight’s pay-per-view event.
We saw the match at WrestleMania 35 in April last year, which was Roman Reigns’ first singles match back following his battle with Leukemia. This will be the first time we’ve seen the match with Roman as the heel and Drew as the babyface.
This implies that Survivor Series is going to be Raw vs. SmackDown themed, with NXT seemingly missing out. The show will also reportedly be focused around The Undertaker, a report you can read more about by clicking here.
It seems likely that the show will see the top champions from Raw collide with the top champions from SmackDown. Pending no titles change hands before Survivor Series, these are the matches we will likely see:
- Roman Reigns. vs. Drew McIntyre
- Sami Zayn vs. Bobby Lashley
- Street Profits vs. New Day
- Bayley vs. Asuka
The theme of this year’s Survivor Series will likely be confirmed either tonight at Hell in a Cell or tomorrow night on Raw. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com over the next two days as we will keep you covered with live coverage of both shows.
