A major WWE star has been removed from the company’s official roster page after having his final match tonight, December 13.
Tonight’s edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event was headlined by the John Cena WWE retirement match against GUNTHER.
The match saw GUNTHER score the win with Cena tapping out to a sleeper hold – finally ‘giving up’ with GUNTHER putting paid to Cena’s iconic “never give up” motto.
After the match, a major update has been made to Cena’s status on WWE’s website roster page.
Even while Cena was inactive for extended periods of time over the past few years, he remained on the ‘current’ roster page.
Today, after his final match, Cena has officially been moved to the ‘alumni’ section of the WWE roster.
On the official SNME post-show, CM Punk gave his thoughts on working with Cena during his heel run earlier this year, saying:
“It was a ton of fun. You can make what you want from John Cena selling his soul, saying it wasn’t the right idea.
“He obviously made amends and apologized to the fans, he’s a Jedi again.
“I just have a blast every time I get to work with John, and being reversed rolls was something we both had a lot of fun with.”
