Roman Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2020 after six months away from the ring. He would then win the Universal Championship just a week later, pinning Braun Strowman at Payback.
As Strowman wasn’t the champion, it seemed inevitable that Roman would at some point have to face the man who he actually won the belt off in that triple threat match, The Fiend.
However, if that was the plan, and it certainly seemed to be given the way he won the belt and with Bray introducing the Wobbly Walrus to the Firefly Fun House, then that plan appears to have been dropped for the time being.
Instead of feuding with the Fiend, Roman turned his attention to his cousin Jey Uso, and the two have had a fantastic feud on SmackDown, which will likely culminate at Hell in a Cell in just under three weeks.
The Fiend has also set his sights elsewhere, and appears to be preparing for some kind of feud against Kevin Owens, while also being involved in a storyline alongside Alexa Bliss.
The story that WWE seems to be telling with Roman seems to be set around his Samoan heritage, with many fantasy booking an eventual match against the Rock at next year’s WrestleMania. This being the case, it’s hard to see where the Fiend would fit into any of this, as he has nothing to do with Roman’s Samoan roots.
There’s every chance that the feud will happen at some point, but given the Fiend’s interaction with Kevin Owens on last night’s Raw, it could be that the Fiend is being moved over to Monday Night’s in the upcoming WWE draft.
Are you sad this feud has been dropped? Or do you think Roman is being booked correctly? Let us know in the comments below.
