Malakai Black In-Ring Future Update Amid AEW Exit Speculation AEW

Former AEW World Trios Champion Malakai Black has teased his next in-ring appearance after the recent AEW exit reports.

As was reported by Fightful Select on January 9, those that they spoke to in the company were of the belief that Malakai Black was finishing up with AEW, if he hadn’t already. Amid speculation about his actual status, Black made his first in-ring appearance since the AEW departure reports for CCW.

At the Coastal Championship Wrestling’s Havoc And Haze 9 event on January 11, Black picked up a win over Orion in singles action.

Following the victory, Malakai Black took part in a backstage interview where he hinted at continuing to appear for CCW in the near future.

Commenting on his mentor-student relationship with Orion, Black said:

“Perhaps in some unwritten part of the future (Orion will defeat him), but not tonight, but when he will, I will make sure that it’s here in Coastal Championship Wrestling.”

This indicates that Black will wrestle on the independent scene for the foreseeable future, if he’s going to be available to complete and finish this storyline with Orion in CCW.

Recent reports have indicated that Black’s AEW contract is set to expire in February or March, which you can read at this link here.

Many backstage within All Elite Wrestlng expect Black to make his return to WWE upon his contract expiring later this year.

WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on Malakai Black’s contract and free agent status when they become available.
