An update has emerged on the status of Malakai Black, who could potentially be heading to WWE following his AEW departure.

News broke today that Malakai Black was removed from the official AEW website’s roster page, signalling his exit from the promotion.
He was written off TV a number of weeks ago with the rest of the House of Black faction being renamed the Hounds of Hell.
Following Black’s removal from the roster page, another big update has emerged that could have big ramifications for a potential WWE return.
As reported by PWInsider, Black’s AEW contract expired yesterday, February 9.
That means that he is now a free agent, and would therefore be able to sign with WWE right now if he wanted to.
There’s no official confirmation on whether that’s the direction he’s heading, but he did request his release from AEW in 2022 because he wanted to join WWE at that point.
Things may have changed since then, but a WWE return is still the expectation as of now. We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
