Malakai Black WWE Royal Rumble Status Major Update

Malakai Black WWE Royal Rumble Status Major Update AEW/WWE

An update has emerged on the possibility of departing AEW star Malakai Black being part of the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 event.

With Black on his way out of AEW, and the Royal Rumble coming up on February 1, the speculation about Black returning to WWE as a surprise Rumble entrant was always going to happen.

While Black is still on the AEW website roster page and still seemingly contracted to the company, it’s been made clear on TV that he is indeed leaving.

On this past week’s Dynamite, Brody King, Buddy Matthews and Julia Hart – the other members of Black’s House of Black group – appeared in a video without Black, alluding to the fact the “voices that guided them” had gone silent.

Julia Hart’s entrance music was adjusted with a line saying “the Hart always wins” instead of “the House always wins”, and King & Matthews have filed to trademark ‘Hounds of Hell’ and ‘Hell Hounds’ as potential new team names.

So, while not officially official quite yet, all signs indicate we won’t be seeing Malakai Black in AEW again, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a Rumble appearance is happening.

According to PWInsider, Black’s AEW contract does run through the Rumble, so while he has been written off TV, he will still technically be under contract through the Rumble and therefore won’t be able to be part of it.

The belief is that he’ll be a free agent sometime in February or March.

Additionally, a source said there haven’t been any discussions about Black making “any final appearances” before his exit, so it does appear that we’ve seen the last of him in AEW.

We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
