Maria Kanellis Reveals Vince McMahon’s Reaction To Pregnancy WWE

Maria Kanellis recently opened up on Vince McMahon’s reaction to her second pregnancy during her time with WWE.

Both Mike and Maria Kanellis joined WWE on June 18, 2017 at WWE Money in the Bank, with Maria taking time off from September of that year due to her pregnancy.

She would make a return to WWE TV in October 2018.

In July 2019, Maria would announce that she and Mike were expecting their second child.

Speaking to Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston, Maria Kanellis discussed the contract negotiation that took place and the discussions about her pregnancy, saying:

“When we were getting ready to sign with WWE again, we had long conversations with WWE, and I told them I wanted to have another baby right away, because I wanted the two kids to have each other.”

With this in mind, Maria was pragmatic in her approach to the contract negotiation, stating:

“And I told WWE, ‘Hey, it’s fine, I could just not sign, and we can part ways. That’s fine. Mike can stay, and I’ll go and have a second baby.”

She wasn’t just thinking of being at home whilst pregnant, however, with Wrestling Inc reporting that:

“Kanellis revealed that she also pitched a pay-per-appearance deal, or shifting to become a backstage producer, which she could still do while pregnant.”

Kanellis would go on to say that:

“The final answer that we got was — it was Mark Carrano [who was Head of Talent Relations] at the time — and Mark said, ‘Vince loves kids, so if you were to get pregnant, no problem. No big deal!”

They would then go on to sign the WWE deal, though wouldn’t be used to a great extent on television.

Both would be released in 2020 as part of “cost-cutting measures”
