The new WWE ring name for former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May has officially been confirmed on tonight’s June 10 episode of NXT.
Just a couple of days after her AEW contract expired, May made her first NXT appearance last week, but her name was never mentioned.
It’s now confirmed that she has undergone a name change, and we know what her new name is.
As announced tonight, May’s new ring name is officially Blake Monroe. The name appears to be a reference to her niece whose name is Blake, and Marilyn Monroe.
Her real name is Mariah May Mead, hence WWE wanting to use a name the company can trademark, as trademarking a real name is more complicated.
Monroe is still using the nickname “The Glamour”, which she used in AEW throughout her run with the company, which ended with her losing the Hollywood Ending Women’s World Championship match to Timeless Toni Storm at the Revolution pay-per-view in early February.
There was a similar situation with Ricky Starks when he joined NXT and he became Ricky Saints.
She has also updated her social media handles to match the new Blake Monroe name.
