An update has emerged on a potential WWE name change for Mariah May after her debut appearance on tonight’s NXT.
May officially left AEW upon the expiration of her contract at the start of June, and just three days into the month, made her first NXT appearance.
It was notable during May’s appearance and promo that her name wasn’t mentioned, and it hasn’t been mentioned by WWE on social media in the aftermath either.
This is the same situation that happened with Ricky Saints in February, who was later revealed to have undergone a name change from Ricky Starks, his real name.
With Mariah May’s real name being Mariah May Mead, it may be the same scenario where WWE wants her to use a name that the company can own the trademark for, rather than her real name, which WWE wouldn’t be able to trademark, or it would at least be more complicated to do so.
In an update, TC of WrestleVotes Radio reported:
She will be getting a new name once it’s decided upon.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
