Former WWE star Santino Marella, real name Anthony Carelli, has announced a collaboration with former NJPW & ROH name Marty Scrull.
Carelli took to Twitter with a video package hyping Scrull’s upcoming appearance for his Battle Arts Professional Wrestling promotion in Canada.
Carelli captioned the video:
Save the date, August 13, 22, Marty Scurll in a way you’ve never seen him before!
Allegations against Scrull notably surfaced in the #SpeakingOut movement in 2020, with Scrull being accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated 16 year old girl in the UK. Scrull had shared a statement in response to the allegations, claiming that he believed the encounter was consensual.
ROH announced Scrull’s departure from the promotion shortly thereafter.
The response to Carelli’s tweet has largely been negative, with fans expressing disappointment with the decision to book Scrull.
As of writing, Carelli has yet to respond to the backlash.
