It was reported last week that Marty Scurll was used on camera at a recent set of NJPW Strong tapings. It was not clear what his role was at the time.
Now, it has been reported that Scurll will no longer factor into New Japan Pro Wrestling’s plans. The Super J-Cast Podcast originally reported the news on Twitter and it was later confirmed by Dave Meltzer.
This would have marked the first appearance by Marty Scurll in any promotion since being released by Ring of Honor last year. He was released after allegations came forth that Scurll had a sexual encounter with a 16-year old girl back in 2015.
Scurll had been the booker of Ring of Honor prior to his release and one of their top stars. Scurll had also previously worked with New Japan in the past as a member of The Elite, winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in 2017.
